Eugene, Oregon baby photographer: Adilynn is ONE!

Please join me in wishing a very happy birthday to Adilynn!

This cute girl is all of one year old and I was delighted to have her in my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon last month to celebrate the occasion with a special birthday cake smash. We both had a great time, and as you can see from the above photograph, Adilynn enjoyed her cake immensely and preferred to dive in face first and eat it mostly hands free. She did get a little on her fingers, but decided it was too sticky that way. Anyway, why waste time getting it on your hands when it’s supposed to end up in your mouth, right? I like the way this kiddo thinks.

Adilynn was a super sweet little girl. This was her first time being one of my photography subjects, and while newborns obviously couldn’t care less, slightly older little ones like this sometimes take a while to warm up to the lady with the camera. Not so with Adilynn. She is clearly very confident because neither my lens nor I could faze her a bit. I guess she knew the camera loves her! This sweetheart was one happy girl, and all smiles through the entire baby photography session. And what a great smile she has! It made it easy to get lots of really cute photos.

I mean, seriously. Talk about an awesome smile! It lights up her whole face, and I love how it shows off her chubby cheeks and perfect little front teeth. She really is adorable, and I am a big fan of that sunset orange color on her. It’s so bright and cheery, and stands out really well against the dark backgrounds of the top right and lower left photos, as well as the quieter pastels of her little hot air balloon—just about to launch into the skies!

I think it’s so cute the way she’s kicking up her heels in the lower left photo above. She just looks so carefree and happy. And the picture of her in her little white dress, experiencing the grass and flowers of spring, is so sweet. I love the wonder of young children exploring the world. Sometimes I take all the beauty we’re surrounded with for granted, so it’s a refreshing and revelatory experience to watch a new little person like Adilynn finding so much pleasure and excitement in something I often see as ordinary. I feel super lucky that as a baby and child photographer I have frequent opportunities to be reminded of just how fantastic life—especially new life—can be.

I’m so glad I got to meet Adilynn and spend some time with her, enjoying a tasty birthday cake and stopping to smell the flowers along the way. This little girl was so much fun and a real pleasure to work with during our baby photography session. I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at these pictures as much as Adilynn and I enjoyed creating them!

Eugene, Oregon baby photographer: Hattie is ONE!

Hattie’s mom, Shanna, brought her in last month for a one year birthday cake smash photography session. Shanna (yes, her name is both spelled and pronounced the same as mine!) wanted to do a strawberry theme to go along with the banner and adorable outfit she had made for Hattie. What a talented lady! Looks like when it comes to the sewing machine she is a force to be reckoned with! Both the outfit and the banner were so cute and I was more than willing to figure out something a little different to match.

Eugene, Oregon maternity photographer: Milk bath with Kelsey

Kelsey came in for a milk bath maternity photography session last month. She was expecting a little boy in early November. Needless to say, he is here now! I did his Fresh 48 photos in the hospital shortly after he was born, and will be doing his newborn photos as well. He’s such a sweetheart! Be sure to keep an eye on the blog   for his pictures!

Eugene, Oregon baby photographer: 6-month milestone session with Lily

Oh my goodness, you are going to love the photos of this sweet baby girl! What an angel face! Audrey and Daniel brought Lily to my Eugene, Oregon photography studio at the end of March for her 6-month milestone photography session. Most of the 6-month-olds I photograph are little ones I took pictures of as newborns, but Lily and her parents were first-time clients. It was wonderful to meet them. And we had so much fun together! I usually set aside an hour for milestone sessions, but I very rarely use the whole time with 6-month-olds because they tend to get tired by about the 40 minute mark. Not Lily! She was sweet-faced and smiley the entire hour. I didn’t even want to stop at that point because we were having such a good time. And honestly, she was probably one of the most gorgeous, photogenic babies I’ve ever photographed. She seriously has the most perfect little face! She loved the camera, and the camera definitely loved her! Because Lily was so happy and cooperative, we go...
