I had the opportunity to photograph this wonderful family
last month in one of the prettiest places in Eugene!
Krissy and Jan and their daughter Olivia currently live in
Albany, but they traveled to Eugene for their family photography session. Krissy grew up in Eugene, so I’m sure
it was a nice experience for her to come back for a brief visit. It’s always
nice to revisit your roots and spend time where so many memories were made. And
now she’s able to make more—this time with her husband and child!
With such a lovely day we decided to take our photographs in
Hendricks Park—Eugene’s oldest city park and one of the city’s many treasures.
With its mixture of mature trees, native plants, and glorious rhododendrons
(Hendricks Park is famed for its rhododendron garden), this place made a
beautiful setting for a family
photography shoot. We all loved the beautiful blooms, which were just about
at their peak on this particular spring day, and made the air smell so sweet.
This family was a real pleasure to work with. They are all
very relaxed and laid back, which made the session enjoyable for everyone. Don’t
they all look so great together?
Jan and Krissy’s adorable daughter, Oliva, had a great time
playing in the grass and flowers. She is such a cutie, with a great smile and a
happy personality. I love this picture of her laughing as she sits on the lush
green grass of the park with the glow of the sunset through the trees behind
her. She is a real sweetheart!
We made sure to get a picture of Olivia with her mom,
Krissy. Aren’t they sweet together? They both wore light pink, which worked so
perfectly with the rhododendron blooms.
And another one with her dad, Jan. What a great daddy
daughter moment!
And, of course, no family
photography session would be complete without a shot of the couple who
started it all! In my opinion, Jan and Krissy were absolutely made for each
other!
I think the outdoor setting really helped to create the
casual, relaxed feel we were going for. More than anything though, this family
just looks great in front of a camera! They are super natural with each other
and know how to have a good time enjoying the simple things in life, and that
definitely shows through in the photographs.
Most of my work is with babies and children—which is my
passion and work that I love—but it was a fun change to take pictures with an
entire family and get to see their interactions with each other. It’s clear
that Jan, Krissy, and Olivia love each other lots and also love being together—and
it was a great experience for me to spend some time with them too! I’m so glad
they traveled all the way from Albany so I could have the pleasure of being
their family photographer for the afternoon.
I loved every minute of it!
