I am super excited to introduce all of you to Xander! This
sweetie came to my studio last month and let me get some great photos of him. I
think you’re going to enjoy them!
I have been so excited to meet this little guy ever since
his dad, Chris, told me that he and Xander’s mom, Kristen, were expecting.
Chris has been my personal trainer off and on for the last eight years with his
boot camp classes. Currently he’s working at Core Fusion. It’s inside the
International Fitness building on Commerce Street here in Eugene, so if you’re
needing a good workout, Chris is your man! You can check out Core Fusion’s FaceBook page here.
It’s always extra fun to do photographs of folks I know, so
I was delighted when Chris asked if I could do a newborn photography session of Xander. I told him it could be done
on one condition: he was going to have to bring a kettlebell along so I could
pose Xander with it. Kettlebell use is dominant in our workouts, and I just
didn’t feel like his session would be complete without it! I love the picture
of Xander propping himself up on it as he sleeps. The cast iron weight is
almost as big as he is. . .and definitely heavier! (Trust me, I speak from
experience.)
We went with the weight theme again (though admittedly a
different type of weight), when we settled Xander down for a nap in the basket
of my old-fashioned scale. We made sure to make it nice and comfortable
with a thick blanket he could snuggle on.
I also love the individual shots of Xander with both of his
parents. If you look closely you’ll see that he has the cutest little smile on
his face whenever his mom or dad are holding him. He must know he’s in good
hands!
We chose some relatively dark, masculine colors for Xander’s
newborn photography session, going
with bold grays and blues, plus some black and white photography with a dark,
dramatic background. I think it worked great, especially as we mixed some white
and cream in there for a lighter touch.
Xander is such a handsome little guy. His skin has a
slightly ruddy glow to it that I just love, and his hair looks quite dark in
some lights, and reddish in others. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see
what color it decides to turn out as he gets older!
It was so much fun to welcome Xander and his mom and dad to
my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon
and to meet this sweet and beautiful baby boy. He was so well behaved while I
took pictures, and looked great in everything from overalls to stripy pants! I’m
so glad I got to be his newborn
photographer, and also glad that I’ll continue to hear about him and keep
in touch with how he’s doing through his dad. I’m sure there will be lots to
tell!
