This is little Bradley, and I’m so happy to welcome him to
the blog!
Bradley was brought into my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon a few weeks ago by his
parents, Matt and Amanda, for a session. He is such a cute baby! He has great
skin, expressive little lips that he likes to form into the sweetest pouts and
smiles, and lovely soft eyelashes. It was a pleasure to photograph him.
Bradley’s dad, Matt, was in the Air Force, and he brought
his flight suit and helmet to the studio so we could incorporate them as props
in our newborn photography session.
It’s great when people bring something that lends a personal touch to their
session. Even though I have plenty of props at the studio, I think having
something meaningful to the family, or something that a child will still have
as they get older, adds something special.
We certainly had a lot of fun seeing how tiny Bradley is in comparison
to his daddy—as you can see, Bradley fits quite comfortably inside Dad’s
helmet!
The plane-themed quilt hanging in the backdrop of the photo above is also personal to the family. It was made by Bradley’s
great-grandmother (obviously a talented and patient person, to make such a
beautiful quilt!) and I’m sure will be well-loved by Bradley.
One of the props I have at my photography studio is a cap made to look like a flight helmet—complete
with goggles. It was definitely a better fit for the little guy than the real
helmet, so we got a picture of him in the smaller (and probably much more
comfortable version), so that he could still be just like his dad. He’ll grow
into the other one eventually!
We went with very basic colors for this newborn photography session: mostly whites, grays, and pale blues,
with brighter blue as the accent. I love the simplicity of this color scheme,
especially in the collage above. There’s a very soothing, quiet feel to the
photos that is in perfect harmony with a sleeping baby, and the pictures of
Bradley with his mom and dad turned out beautifully.
I also love the picture below. I think it’s adorable how babies
so often look like they’re concentrating deeply in their sleep, and Bradley has
the don’t-bother-me-now-I’m-sleeping look down to perfection. What a cutie pie!
I’m afraid I did bother him quite a lot while he was sleeping, getting him into
the best positions for the photos, but he was a really good sport about it.
I’m so glad I was able to welcome Bradley and his parents to
my studio for this newborn photography
session. Amanda and Matt are clearly so happy to have this sweet little boy as
part of their family, and I’m very excited for them. There’s nothing like
welcoming a brand new life to the world! I had a great time getting to know
these wonderful people, and I loved every minute I spent photographing this
special young man!
