Please join me in welcoming Hattie to the blog!
This sweet little one made the trip to my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon
from her home in Florence (a coastal town here in Oregon), along with her mom,
dad, and two older sisters. The drive from Florence is a little over an hour,
but I was so glad Hattie and her family made the trip. I had a wonderful time
meeting and photographing Hattie and getting to know her family. We got some
great pictures, and I hope you enjoy them all!
Both of Hattie’s parents are nurses, so we decided to
emphasize the family tradition by including a stethoscope in her newborn photography session—I think she
may be destined to follow in her parents’ footsteps, don’t you? I mean, come
on, I know stethoscopes haven’t traditionally been a fashion statement, but
Hattie rocks that look!
Hattie has beautiful skin and was a great sleeper throughout
our session. I love her round face, her sweet nose, her soft, dark hair, and
her determined lips. She is such an adorable little thing, and although she was
extremely well-behaved during her time in my photography studio, I have a feeling this little girl is going to
have a strong personality as well! Some of the expressions on her face just
seem to convey that this is a young lady who knows her own mind and will be
able to do anything she sets out to accomplish!
We used soft pinks and creams for the majority of Hattie’s newborn photography session, a very traditional
and feminine combination that always works well for baby girls. We threw in
just a touch of purple and peach too, to keep things interesting, add some
bright splashes, and personalize the color scheme so that it was unique to
Hattie. Sometimes parents want a more unusual color scheme to make it personal
to their baby, which is also great, but frequently just a few touches here and
there can give a traditional palette new life. I think the color combinations in
this case turned out great.
Although we did use a few props, our main theme for Hattie’s
outfits was lots and lots of headbands! (Plus a couple of hats.) Whether they
had flowers or pearls, whether they were wide or thin, and no matter what color
they were, she looked so good in all of them! I especially liked the wider
headbands, as they frame her face so well, but we really couldn’t go wrong.
It was such a pleasure to have this sweetheart and her family
in my studio and to be the newborn
photographer for little Hattie. She is such a cutie pie, and, like most
babies, super photogenic. She was very cooperative and content to sleep through
our session, giving me free reign to do whatever I wanted! A great little photography
subject. I’m really happy with the way her photos turned out, and I hope you’ve
enjoyed looking through them.
