I did this maternity
photography session last month for Amy, who is expecting not one, but two
baby girls any day now. Amy is planning to bring them into the studio after
they’re born for their newborn baby pictures, and I can’t wait to meet them! If
there’s anything cuter than a newborn baby, it’s the cuteness doubled, so keep
an eye out for their pictures in the next few weeks—you won’t want to miss out
on that much adorableness, trust me.
The twins’ daddy, Kevin, was able to make it to our session
too, plus their beautiful daughter Cordelia and the family dog, Tubby, and I
was able to get some great pictures of all of them. Cordelia is such a cutie
and I’m sure she’s going to have fun being a big sister. And Tubby is a very
happy, friendly dog who even knew how to smile for the photos!
Kevin and Amy are a great-looking couple, and I think any
guy who’s man enough to have his picture taken with a flower in his hair is
destined to be a great father to three little girls!
We held this session at the Blanton Ridge Trailhead in South
Eugene, the entrance to 12 miles of trails that lead through several parklands
in town. It’s a nice spot that is easily accessible, yet still has that rustic,
open feel we were going for. The date we had set happened to be during a heat
wave, so everything was very dry, but the grass still had a little green mixed
in with the gold and made for some very pretty pictures. A heat wave during
pregnancy is no picnic, but Amy was a trooper and somehow still managed to look
gorgeous and unruffled during the entire maternity
photography session.
If you’ve been in Eugene over the last few weeks then you’ve
experienced firsthand the smoky skies that were a part of the landscape for
almost the entire month of August. There have been so many fires here in the
Pacific Northwest this year, and while Eugene was lucky enough to avoid the
flames themselves, the winds blew a lot of smoke our way. I am delighted that
the skies have finally cleared—there was an upsurge of coughs, sore throats,
and headaches caused by the pollution in the atmosphere—but I have to say that
the smoke was excellent for photography. The haze made for some amazing
sunrises and sunsets, and on this particular day gave the sunset a lovely glow that
lent a splash of color to these maternity
photographs—and also matched Amy’s blouse perfectly!
It was my pleasure to be Amy’s maternity photographer as she and her family prepare to welcome
twin girls into their lives. This is going to be such a huge adventure and a
great blessing, and I’m so excited for them! I’m looking forward to having this
family in my photography studio very soon, and I wish them every happiness and
all the joys that only new life can bring.
