Ariana and Hector are expecting their first child this
month, and they are so excited! We held this maternity photography session in the West Eugene Wetlands, which is
a beautiful area of wet prairie land, full of tall grass, lovely wildflowers,
and songbirds. The pretty purple flowers were actually the reason Ariana chose
this location, but it was so late in the season that we almost missed them!
They were definitely on their way out when we shot these photos back in August,
but there were still enough that we were able to capture them in some of our
pictures, and they gave a lovely tint of lavender to our backdrop.
This was a mini maternity
photography session, which is only available as an add-on to a full newborn
session. It’s a great option for those who want the focus to be on the new
little one, but who would also like a handful of maternity photos to remember
the excitement and anticipation leading up to baby’s birth. If this sounds like
something you might be interested in, feel free to get more information about
this and other packages here.
Ariana is due to be in my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon with her newborn towards the
end of September, and I am looking forward to it! Ariana and Hector are a
great-looking couple, and I’m sure their baby is going to be absolutely
adorable! It’s always fun for me to be a part of both the maternity and newborn
photographs.
We met at the wetlands near sunset, which is always an
especially beautiful time to take photographs. The lighting was very peaceful,
and the smoke that still hung in the air from the many fires across the country
provided a filter that turned the sun’s light into a warm, reddish glow. Since
the majority of our background was composed of very soft greens, whites, and
wheat browns (with the exception of the purple flowers), the rosy rays of light
from the sunset created a welcome splash of color.
Sunset is also great because it’s usually still too early
for most of the insects to be a bother, and the birds are all singing sleepily
as they nestle down for the night. It’s a very relaxing time of day, and I
think that quiet, soothing feeling makes for a very pleasant session and also
comes through in the photographs.
Ariana looked stunning in her cream-colored maternity gown.
She has the most gorgeous skin, thick hair, and amazing dark eyes, and her baby
belly is just perfect! She is also one of those women who can maintain a
dainty, petite frame even while pregnant, and it looks like pregnancy agrees
with her!
I’m delighted that I was able to join Ariana and Hector as
their maternity photographer last
month, and equally delighted that I will get to be the newborn photographer for
their new little one. I am so excited for this sweet couple and the joys and
adventure that await them!
