I had a wonderful time doing this maternity photography session with Lindsay, Vincent, and their son,
Dominic.
I did a maternity
photography session with Lindsay a couple of years ago when she was
pregnant with Dominic, and it was a super memorable session because it was
underwater! That was the first time I’d ever done something like that, and it
was so exciting to try such a different style of photography. If you want to
check out the pictures from that underwater session, click here.
Dominic’s new little sibling is due a bit later in the year
than he was, so we knew we didn’t want to do underwater photography again,
partly for practical reasons, and partly just because we wanted something different.
Lindsay did still want a somewhat tropical feel for this session though, which
was a little tricky because. . .well. . .Oregon. Need I say more? Anyway, I had
some trouble coming up with location ideas. In the end, the best spot I could
think of was Hendricks Park here in Eugene. It’s not exactly tropical, but it
does have deciduous trees and bushes and lots of lush ferns, as opposed to the
evergreens that populate most of the parks I use for my photo shoots.
Since spring is long past and fall was nearly upon us at the
time we did this session, most of the flowers in Hendricks Park were no longer
in bloom, but the lush greenery is something we’re lucky enough to have
year-round, and the setting sun shone yellow-gold through the trees and gave a
splash of color and warmth to the pictures. We also shot several photos in
black and white, which really helped to bring out the many textures of the
different plants and foliage. If you didn’t know any better, you really might
think Lindsay was relaxing in a tropical paradise!
Lindsay also helped to give this maternity photography session more of a tropical feel by wearing
sandals and lacy white, and by wearing her blonde hair in a sun-kissed, beach
curls style. She looked absolutely gorgeous in her maternity gown, and she and
the two handsome men in her life look so great together! Dominic is such a
cutie pie and has grown so much! He’s got the best little round face and a
contagious smile, and I think he’s going to be a great big brother.
It was great to see Lindsay and her family again during this
maternity photography session, and
to catch up with all the exciting things that have been happening in their
lives. I’m so excited that they’re getting ready to welcome a new little one
into the world. They are an amazing family already, but I have no doubt they
will be even more so when baby arrives. Every new family member contributes something
new and wonderful, and somehow makes everyone more complete. It’s one of the
best things about families, and one of the many joys that a new baby brings!
