This precious baby is Karoline!
Karoline was brought into my photography studio last month
by her parents, Katharina and Jacob, for a newborn
photography session, and it was truly a wonderful one. This little one’s
mom and dad have been wanting a baby for ages, but it was a long journey to
bring her home, and took some creativity and help from the amazing medical
innovations that we’re so lucky to have today. With the help of IVF, and many
prayers and wishes, Karoline has finally arrived in the world and into a family
that is so happy to welcome her at last!
Katharina wanted a very feminine, somewhat vintage feel for this
newborn photography session, but
since Jacob is in the military, we also wanted to incorporate an army theme as
well. Although feminine/vintage and military/army seem poles apart, we managed
to pull elements from both into our session, and I really love the contrast. Well
done, mom! I’m glad Katharina didn’t shy away from this unusual combination,
because it turned out fantastic, and perfectly individual to this family.
We used cream, coral, and light pink, along with some lace
and floral elements, and combined these with a dark brown backdrop and dad’s
army uniform for a truly unique juxtaposition. You can see from the collage
above how nicely our disparate themes blended together. It’s also obvious from
the pictures how very loved Karoline is, and what a wonderful family she’s been
born into. Don’t they look great together? And look at those big, beautiful
eyes Karoline has. So innocent and wondering!
Karoline is a beautiful baby, so tiny and sweet. Aside from
those lovely eyes, she also has the cutest chubby cheeks. I love how rosy and
pinchable they look, especially in the shot below, as she reclines at her ease
on top of daddy’s army jacket, with his big boots standing guard over her. And
that hair! Is that not just the best?
As if you need any more proof of how precious she is, look
at her snuggled deep in the pocket of her dad’s cargo pants. Oh. My. Goodness.
Their diminutive size is one of the cutest things about babies, but to take it
all the way to pocket-sized? I can’t get over how adorable that is. And I love
that sleepy smile on her face. She looks so content with daddy’s hand cradling
her safely.
I was honored to be the newborn
photographer for this sweet little miracle baby. It was a pleasure to
welcome this family into my photography
studio in Eugene, Oregon, and a delight to work with them as we celebrated
Karoline’s birth together, and captured this precious stage of new life. It’s
been a tough journey for Katharina and Jacob, but I’m so happy that their
heartfelt wishes have been fulfilled and that they have this amazing
opportunity. Parenting may be the biggest adventure of life, and I wish them
luck, joy, and many blessings as they embark on it together!
