Eugene, Oregon newborn photographer: Welcome Ella!

This beautiful little lady is Ella, and I had a wonderful newborn photography session with her last month.

Ella’s mom, Xochilt, is a new client, and it was a pleasure to meet her and to get to know her and her family. Xochilt’s husband unfortunately wasn’t able to make this session, but maybe at some point we’ll have the whole family in the studio together! As it was, Xochilt, Ella, and Ella’s two older brothers, Evan and Connor, were able to come together for this newborn photography session.

Ella is an amazing baby with beautiful skin and really balanced features. I can definitely see her mom in her. She has a sweet face, lovely dark hair, and such a cute smile. Just look at that expression! Melts your heart, doesn’t it?

The colors Xochilt chose for Ella’s newborn photography session were very rich and deep, and had me dreaming of fall even though it was still high summer at the time I shot these photos. There’s just something about those deep blues and rusty oranges that makes me thing of crisp autumn leaves, cozy sweaters, and a snap of cold in the air. A slice of pumpkin pie, anyone?

We also balanced out those richer tones with some subtle creams, pinks, and grays. The colors were flexible enough that they worked well together even in the collage, (which is where any color clashes tend to become obvious.) I think it turned out beautifully.

Evan and Connor were so great with Ella. There’s a bigger age gap between these kiddos than I usually see in the studio, and it was fun to see how Ella’s brothers interacted with her. They were super sweet and gentle, and obviously excited to help take care of the new little one. It’s nice because, at that age, there’s not really any risk of older siblings being jealous of the baby, as is so often the case with brothers and sisters who are still very young when the newest member of the family comes along. They’re just thrilled with the novelty of it all! Anyway, it looks like these boys are going to be great helpers for mom and dad, and wonderful big brothers to Ella.

I’m so glad I was able to be the newborn photographer for little Ella and to have both her and her wonderful family in my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon. It’s always fun and extra special when siblings and other family members are involved in the session to welcome a new baby, and I love being able to record those sweet relationships as they’re just beginning. I’m sure the photos from this session will be wonderful keepsakes for Ella and her parents and siblings to look back on as she grows, and I hope I get to work with this great family again at some point. In the meantime, I am so happy for them and am glad I could be a part of this joyous time in their lives!

Eugene, Oregon baby photographer: Hattie is ONE!

Hattie’s mom, Shanna, brought her in last month for a one year birthday cake smash photography session. Shanna (yes, her name is both spelled and pronounced the same as mine!) wanted to do a strawberry theme to go along with the banner and adorable outfit she had made for Hattie. What a talented lady! Looks like when it comes to the sewing machine she is a force to be reckoned with! Both the outfit and the banner were so cute and I was more than willing to figure out something a little different to match.

Eugene, Oregon maternity photographer: Milk bath with Kelsey

Kelsey came in for a milk bath maternity photography session last month. She was expecting a little boy in early November. Needless to say, he is here now! I did his Fresh 48 photos in the hospital shortly after he was born, and will be doing his newborn photos as well. He’s such a sweetheart! Be sure to keep an eye on the blog   for his pictures!

Eugene, Oregon baby photographer: 6-month milestone session with Lily

Oh my goodness, you are going to love the photos of this sweet baby girl! What an angel face! Audrey and Daniel brought Lily to my Eugene, Oregon photography studio at the end of March for her 6-month milestone photography session. Most of the 6-month-olds I photograph are little ones I took pictures of as newborns, but Lily and her parents were first-time clients. It was wonderful to meet them. And we had so much fun together! I usually set aside an hour for milestone sessions, but I very rarely use the whole time with 6-month-olds because they tend to get tired by about the 40 minute mark. Not Lily! She was sweet-faced and smiley the entire hour. I didn’t even want to stop at that point because we were having such a good time. And honestly, she was probably one of the most gorgeous, photogenic babies I’ve ever photographed. She seriously has the most perfect little face! She loved the camera, and the camera definitely loved her! Because Lily was so happy and cooperative, we go...
