Please join me in welcoming Harrison—a sweet little guy I
had the chance to photograph last month, and an absolutely adorable photography
subject!
Kirsten and Danielle brought their new baby boy in to my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon
along with his two big sisters, Meritt and Avery. Meritt is three and Avery is
almost two, so they’re still just babies themselves, but they were so great
with their new little brother and followed directions really well. I don’t have
any pictures of them to show you, but take my word for it, they are a couple of
cutie pies, and they are already wonderful sisters to the newest member of the
family!
Harrison arrived a few weeks before his due date, so he was
a very petite little fella—although I’m sure he has grown a ton since I had him
in my studio six weeks ago. He was also the cutest sleeper. We changed him in
and out of several outfits, tried lots of hats on him, and positioned him with
several props, and he was as good as gold the whole time. Nothing we did
disturbed him, and he just dreamed the session away.
Pumpkin season was upon us, and Halloween preparations were
full steam ahead at the time of Harrison’s newborn
photography session, so I couldn’t resist taking a picture of him in a
festive pumpkin hat. Isn’t he the cutest little jack-o-lantern you’ve ever
seen?
Aside from that one foray into the deeper colors of autumn,
we stayed with sky blue, teal, and gray for the rest of this newborn photography session, which I
think is a great combination with Harrison’s fair complexion. It has an almost
springtime look, despite the fact that we took these photos in October, and I
love the very soft, light look those colors give to most of the pictures in the
session.
All the props we used were made of wood, which gave a very
natural feel to the pictures. The use of wood, combined with those sky and
robin’s egg colors, remind me of a little bird’s nest, especially in the
collage.
Harrison had such soft baby skin and beautiful coloring. I
love his fuzz of light hair and that sweet little mouth! He is so precious!
It was great to have Harrison and his parents and sisters in
the studio. They are all loving this new bundle of joy that’s arrived in their
lives, and it’s clear that Harrison is going to be spoiled with so many people
to love him and look after him! I’m glad I got to be the newborn photographer for this handsome little man and capture those
sweet, brand new baby days for his family. That newborn stage is so short…it
would be kind of sad if there weren’t so many other fun ages and stages to
come! As it is, I know there are many happy days ahead for Harrison and his
family, and I hope they enjoy every one of them!
