Eugene, Oregon maternity photographer: Jessica

Jessica and Terran came into my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon last month, in anticipation of their baby boy arriving very soon! They are planning to bring him into the studio for a newborn session towards the end of February, and I’m so excited to meet him. 

Jessica was a beautiful subject! She brought a couple of her own maternity gowns—a white one and a black one, and they were both lovely. Very simple but elegant and flattering. She also wore my white lace dress during several of our photos, which added some nice texture. She looked great in all of them! We went with very high contrast for color, which I haven’t done with many of my maternity photography sessions, so it was fun for me to be able to play around with the dramatic mix of black and white. I ended up loving the results, and I hope Jessica and Terran did too!

One of my favorite photos from this session is the silhouette of the two of them. We cast them in deep shadow against a bright background and it turned out so striking. 

After we had done the pictures that Jessica wanted to get, I asked her if she would be willing to model for some nude photos I’ve been wanting to try out. She was just glowing and I knew she would be the perfect subject for a nude maternity photography session—and I thought the dark colors we were already using for backgrounds would be great to highlight the beauty of a woman’s body during pregnancy. Not all women are comfortable with nude photography, which is totally fine, but Jessica was a great sport about the whole thing. She agreed right away and was wonderful about posing and just letting me experiment with this style.

I’m so glad Jessica was willing to let me practice something new during her session. Although I’ve been a Eugene, Oregon maternity photographer for quite a while, nude photography isn’t something I’ve done much, so I was really grateful for the opportunity to develop this skill a little more. I think it’s a wonderful way to celebrate the beauty and femininity of the female body during this unique time. I really enjoyed this new style and was so happy with the way the photos turned out. They were really stunning and Jessica looks amazing! I hope I’ll be able to continue to get more comfortable with this type of photography and I’m looking forward to trying it again. 

It was a pleasure to have this couple in my studio. They were fantastic to work with and just such sweet people. It’s wonderful as a Eugene, Oregon photographer to have so many opportunities to meet new people and help them record and celebrate the highlights of their lives. I’m already looking forward to seeing Jessica and Terran again and helping them welcome their new baby to the world. I have a feeling he’s going to be an extremely handsome little man!
