Eugene, Oregon newborn photographer: Welcome Ellie!

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year’s celebration! It’s nice to have a time set aside each year to reflect on the past and make goals and resolutions for the future, and it’s a great opportunity to get organized again! I love the chance to reflect on my year as a Eugene, Oregon photographer. I have so many fun memories of 2017—adorable babies, sweet kiddos, and amazing families—and I’m looking forward to a year filled with many more! I have lots of new goals for my business and I’m excited to see the changes and improvements in store.

One of my fun memories from 2017 was doing this newborn mini photography session in November for Ellie. Lauren and Kyle brought their sweet baby girl to my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon and I had such a great time photographing her! She was an adorable little chunk with some of the most delicious cheeks I’ve ever seen! So soft and pink and chubby—I can only imagine the fun her mom and dad must have kissing those every day!

Ellie was super good throughout her session and was one of the easiest babies I’ve ever worked with. In fact, she was so good that I finished with my normal newborn mini session workflow with about twenty minutes to spare, so we got a few extra poses in just because we could!

We went with a very simple and traditional color scheme for this newborn photography session: classic pink and white for a baby girl. Simple color schemes tend to work best for mini sessions as they help to make the pictures more cohesive. When you’re only going to end up with a handful of photographs, it’s usually best to steer clear of using a lot of colors, since the resulting photos can end up looking a little disjointed and hard to put together in collages and such. The basic pink and white was great for Ellie’s mini session and I was glad her parents chose a straightforward theme that was so easy to work with.

We only used one prop in this session—a little white basinet—which Ellie looks so cute in! All the rest of the variety in the photos was provided by the different hats and headbands we had her wear, and the different poses we put her in. She was such a good little sleeper and I love her pout!

Photographing this sweet little girl was a great way to start winding down the year, and I was delighted for the opportunity to be her newborn photographer. It was a pleasure to work with such an easygoing baby, and I loved being able to meet her and her mom and dad. We had a great session together and it went so fast! I hope I’ll have the chance to photograph her again at some point. I would love to work with Ellie again and see how she’s growing into those amazing chubby cheeks!

Eugene, Oregon baby photographer: Hattie is ONE!

Hattie’s mom, Shanna, brought her in last month for a one year birthday cake smash photography session. Shanna (yes, her name is both spelled and pronounced the same as mine!) wanted to do a strawberry theme to go along with the banner and adorable outfit she had made for Hattie. What a talented lady! Looks like when it comes to the sewing machine she is a force to be reckoned with! Both the outfit and the banner were so cute and I was more than willing to figure out something a little different to match.

Eugene, Oregon maternity photographer: Milk bath with Kelsey

Kelsey came in for a milk bath maternity photography session last month. She was expecting a little boy in early November. Needless to say, he is here now! I did his Fresh 48 photos in the hospital shortly after he was born, and will be doing his newborn photos as well. He’s such a sweetheart! Be sure to keep an eye on the blog   for his pictures!

Eugene, Oregon baby photographer: 6-month milestone session with Lily

Oh my goodness, you are going to love the photos of this sweet baby girl! What an angel face! Audrey and Daniel brought Lily to my Eugene, Oregon photography studio at the end of March for her 6-month milestone photography session. Most of the 6-month-olds I photograph are little ones I took pictures of as newborns, but Lily and her parents were first-time clients. It was wonderful to meet them. And we had so much fun together! I usually set aside an hour for milestone sessions, but I very rarely use the whole time with 6-month-olds because they tend to get tired by about the 40 minute mark. Not Lily! She was sweet-faced and smiley the entire hour. I didn’t even want to stop at that point because we were having such a good time. And honestly, she was probably one of the most gorgeous, photogenic babies I’ve ever photographed. She seriously has the most perfect little face! She loved the camera, and the camera definitely loved her! Because Lily was so happy and cooperative, we go...
