Jessica and Terran brought in their adorable new son, Tyson,
about a month ago for his newborn
photography session. He is such a little cutie and was amazing for me as a
photography subject. I’m so excited to share his pictures with you!
Tyson is such a handsome boy, with beautiful clear skin,
fair hair, and an absolutely cherubic expression! I mean seriously, look at
that face!
Appearances didn’t deceive with this little guy either. He
didn’t fuss at all and slept like a dream through the entire session, totally
oblivious to me and my camera and the fact that I kept shifting him into all sorts
of different positions. I could definitely get used to it if all my newborn photography sessions were this
easy! Because he was so chill and relaxed we were able to get quite a variety
of pictures with him in several different outfits and positions, so that was a
lot of fun too.
His parents wanted all neutral colors for his session, which
is a little different than what I’m used to—normally I work with a mixture of
neutrals and brighter colors—but I’m always up for switching things up a little
and the pictures turned out better than I expected. I guess it just goes to
show you that mom and dad always know what’s best!
With his fair complexion, Tyson
actually looks great in all the grays, creams, and browns we used, and the
different props and outfits provide variety without needing to rely on color
for added interest. Plus, it’s a cinch to put together a collage or mix photos
together for announcement cards when all the colors flow together so nicely.
Although Tyson was obviously the star of the show, we also
included mom and dad in a few of the photos—and this little family looks so
sweet together! The parent and baby pictures I take as a newborn photographer often turn out to be some of my favorites from
the session, maybe because that relationship between parent and child is such a
close, special one, and I love being able to capture it in those first stages. I
know from personal experience, and from seeing it almost every day during my
work as a Eugene, Oregon photographer,
that as strong as the love of a parent for their child is during those first
weeks and months of life, it just keeps growing stronger and becoming deeper
and more complex as that baby grows. It’s one of those everyday miracles that I’m
so lucky to be reminded of on such a frequent basis.
It really was a pleasure to have this family in my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon—and
not just because Tyson was such an easy baby to work with! I’m so glad I got to
do this session with Jessica, Terran, and Tyson. They are truly wonderful
people starting off on such a huge adventure together, and I couldn’t be
happier or more excited for them!
