It was such a pleasure to finally meet Audrey, Mike, big
sister Madison, and of course, baby Kennedy. Kennedy was expected to come in
mid-April, but she was born about a month early and we had to wait almost until
her original due date to get her into the studio for her newborn photography session because she spent twenty-eight days in
the NICU getting adjusted to this big new world. She is doing wonderfully now
and is absolutely beautiful.
Little Kennedy has the sweetest face and such soft light
hair. Her pink lips puckered into the most adorable shapes all through our
session, and she even blew a few bubbles for me!
She’s already gorgeous, but just looking at her family it’s
easy to see that she’s going to grow up so pretty! Big sister Madison is such a
beautiful little girl, with those bouncing golden curls and big eyes. Even though
she wasn’t totally sure about smiling for me and my camera, we still got some great
pictures of her and her new little sis together.
It was so great to see this family together in my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon. As
though a preemie isn’t challenging enough, Audrey is a breast cancer survivor,
so having their sweet second daughter now is truly a special miracle for her
and Mike. I couldn’t be happier for them, and I’m so glad Kennedy is doing well!
With my job as a Eugene, Oregon photographer
I get to hear all these amazing stories about exceptional families and how they
overcome the most difficult circumstances together. They never cease to inspire
me, and I feel so blessed to connect with incredible families like this one!
We used lots of colors in Kennedy’s newborn photography session—everything from green and yellow (Go
Ducks!) to coral pink, and all the colors of the rainbow in between. It was
just too hard to choose!
I loved the props her family brought, including the
Super Duper quilt to let everyone know just how awesome Miss Kennedy is, and
her “Nicu Grad” board to show off her big accomplishment. It isn’t every new
baby that manages to be a graduate before she’s a month old! We’re all very
proud of her, and I know her family is thrilled to finally have her home with
them. They have every reason to be grateful for modern medicine, and for the
excellent care hospitals provide for those who need it, but there really is nothing
like home and the love of family to nurture a new baby, so it’s wonderful that
Kennedy is strong enough now to be where she truly belongs.
I’m delighted I was able to be the newborn photographer for this wonderful family. I had a great time
getting acquainted with them and hearing just a little bit of their story, and
of course I could have admired their precious new baby forever! Kennedy is such
a sweetheart, and she couldn’t have come to a better family.
