Eugene, Oregon newborn photographer: Welcome Jax!

Remember Jax from his Fresh 48 session that I posted a week or so ago? I told you he’d already been to see me for his newborn pictures and that I would be getting them up on the blog soon—and here they are! His parents, Amber and Alex, brought him into the studio about a week after we’d done his Fresh 48 (near the middle of last month) for his newborn photography session, and we had such a wonderful time together. They are such a sweet family, and after seeing them in the hospital shortly after little Jax was born it was exciting to welcome them to my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon and get to know them a little better.

Amber wanted to incorporate some greenery and floral into Jax’s session, which isn’t a request I usually get with baby boys, so that was a lot of fun! I’m always up for something new and different, so I enjoyed finding some flora that was beautiful while not being girly, and I ended up loving the result. It added a natural, springtime touch to our photos that was really unique and striking. As a Eugene, Oregon photographer, since this area is famous for its greenery, I’d love to incorporate more of that kind of look into my sessions—but it’s always up to mom and dad, of course!

Speaking of springtime, isn’t Jax such a cutie bundled up in this thick, fluffy wrap? The shape reminds me of a bird’s egg, like he’s just taking a quick nap after the hard work of hatching—and he looks quite comfortable in the nice soft nest we created for him. What a sweetheart!

We used lots of teal and gray, along with some cream, during this newborn photography session. I really like that color combination. It’s lighter than more traditional baby boy colors, like navy blue, but still totally appropriate for a little guy, and worked great with Jax’s coloring. Jax is such a pretty baby! It looks like he inherited his mama’s light hair, but it may darken up like his dad’s as he gets older. We’ll have to see. He was also so easy to work with. He slept like a dream and was just totally content the whole time, making it easy to get lots of great pictures and to use a nice variety of props and outfits.

I loved having this wonderful couple and their sweet son in my studio. Being a newborn photographer never gets old, and a big part of that is because of the amazing people I get to meet and work with every day. Amber, Alex, and Jax were such a pleasure, and definitely a family I will remember fondly. I hope I get to work with them again in the future! In the meantime, I wish them luck and success in their life here (they recently moved here from Florida) and I’m sure they will have so much joy in their journey as a family!
