I’ve been photographing this wonderful family for a while now,
ever since Brandi and Zach were expecting their oldest daughter, Macie. I also
did Macie’s newborn pictures, and this summer I was able to do another maternity
session for Brandi in anticipation of a little boy arriving. I’ve been looking
forward to seeing him in my studio ever since and last month I was finally able
to meet little Triton and do his newborn
photography session! He is such a sweetheart, and just as healthy and
handsome as anybody could wish for. I’m so excited for you to meet him!
We used mostly white and gray for the portion of this
session that included Triton’s parents and sister. It’s a really simple, light
color scheme that allows for a lot of flexibility, is completely gender neutral
so that it works equally well for both boys and girls, and gives such a clean,
airy look to photos. One of the keys to keeping a very basic color scheme like
this interesting is to include some different textures. Macie’s lacy dress was
perfect for that, and using a textured throw pillow on the bed added just
enough interest without distracting from the simplicity we were aiming for.
When it was just Triton as the star of our show we kept the
gray and added a bit of teal for fun. Triton has an elephant theme in his room,
so we had to tie that into his newborn
photography session as well. It was the perfect chance to pull out my elephant
ear hat, and he looks so adorable in it!
Big sister Macie is three years old, which can typically be a
challenging time to photograph an older sibling with a brand new baby, but
Macie was a total rockstar for me. A lot of times kiddos that age (especially
when they’re adjusting to no longer being the only child) can be a little bit
jealous of their new sibling, and in no mood to have pictures taken. As a Eugene, Oregon photographer I’ve learned
from experience that it’s not unusual for two- and three-year-olds to start
acting out more than usual or being extra clingy and tearful for a while after
a new little one comes, but that is definitely not the case with Macie. She is completely
in love with her baby brother and did a beautiful job of posing for me. We got
some great pictures of Macie and Triton together, and it was so sweet to see
how gentle and loving she was with him.
I loved having Brandi, Zach, and Macie in my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon
again, and it was such a pleasure to welcome Triton there for the first time! I
feel lucky to know this amazing family and I’m so happy for the wonderful
blessing of another little one in their lives. I already know Brandi and Zach
are incredible parents, and Macie is obviously going to be the best big sister!
Triton is one lucky little guy!
