I chose to do my fall mini sessions on select evenings in
September and early October this year. As a Eugene, Oregon photographer, my seasonal mini sessions are
something I look forward to. They’re very popular with my clients, and it’s a
great chance for me to see some of my favorite people again and catch up with
how things are going. I always enjoy seeing these returning families and
getting to photograph them in a beautiful outdoor setting.
We’ve been fortunate in our weather this year with a nice
long summer. The weather was great every evening and we didn’t have to
reschedule at all. I scheduled these sessions nice and early so I could stay
ahead of the rainy season, but this part of Oregon is renowned for its rain. It
was a pleasant surprise that the beautiful weather stretched so far into fall.
The weather in the evenings was also a great temperature. No
nip in the air yet, just nice and cool, which meant people had the option of putting
on a light sweater to accentuate the fall theme, or get one more use out of
their cute summer clothes!
I always offer these types of mini family photography sessions to my current clients before opening it up to the public—and my clients did not disappoint! These sold out within two hours and I wasn’t able to open them to the public at all.
I chose Wayne Morse Family Farm here in Eugene for my fall family photography sessions this year. This
27-acre park is a historic site that was once the home of long-time Oregon
senator Wayne Morse and his family. It is a beautiful place. This was
originally a working farm, but has since been converted into a park that
provides picnic facilities, nature walks, an off-leash dog exercise area, and
an annual day camp.
As a Eugene, Oregon
photographer I’m always on the lookout for new photography sites, and I was
very happy with this one. Aside from the farmhouse itself, there is also an
open meadow and a natural wooded area that make perfect backdrops for photos. There
was still lots of green, although the leaves were just starting to change
color. The white fence near the house was also a particularly nice touch for
pictures, and we incorporated it in a few of our shots.
Around a dozen families joined me for photographs this year.
I loved seeing all these wonderful people and am so glad they each made the
time to get updated family portraits. I think it’s so important to record your
family’s growth and progress, especially when you have children. They grow and
change so fast, and professional family
photographs are such a treasure to look back on.
I’m already gearing up for my Christmas minis and can’t wait
to see more of my amazing families! They are all so great and I love the
memories I’ve created as I’ve been the family
photographer for each of them.
