Ashley, Chris, and big brother Carter brought their new twin
boys in to see me for a newborn
photography session last month. They live in Albany (about forty-five
minutes from my photography studio in
Eugene, Oregon) so I was particularly glad they were able to make the
drive. It’s not easy to travel with one newborn, let alone two, but I loved
having them in the studio.
Grey and Taylor were the cutest things ever! Although they’re
twins, you can already tell the difference between them just by their hair
color. They were both healthy, happy little guys and were great for me during
their session. They were very sleepy and loved snuggling together. Twin newborn photography can sometimes
be a little challenging, so I usually have my studio manager, Kimberly, give me
a hand whenever I have a double dose of cuteness in the studio. It’s very
helpful to have another person there to assist with posing the babies and
keeping them comfortable.
We went with a pretty minimal color scheme for these two
boys. Lots of neutrals like cream, gray, white and brown gave our photos a
natural, quiet feel. We also added a touch of navy blue and teal. Not much was
needed in the way of props since we were going for a simple look, but we did
throw a couple in there just for the fun of it. We mostly had fun trying out
different hats! The boys look adorable in all of them.
Carter is an absolutely amazing big brother! He is so
excited about this new responsibility and loves holding and loving on his baby
brothers. I can tell he’s going to be a great help to mom and dad, and Grey and
Taylor are lucky to have a big bro who takes such good care of them. I love
seeing the relationships between siblings and other family members—it’s one of
my favorite parts of being a Eugene,
Oregon photographer. Often the adjustment of becoming a big brother or
sister after being an only child is easier when the elder sibling is a bit
older. They tend to be more excited about taking care of the little one rather
than jealous about all the attention baby is getting.
There are always lots of opportunities for fun and unique
shots when doing twin newborn
photography. One of my favorites is to bundle them up in a blanket and get
a picture of those precious little feet. Since Taylor and Grey were so cuddly
we got several great shots of them both together without any trouble at all.
It was wonderful to be the newborn photographer for this sweet family. It really was a
pleasure to get to know them and to help them welcome these two little ones
into their lives! What a special and exciting time! I was honored to help them
record this event and this new stage in their life together. Congratulations to
Ashley and Chris, and best wishes to them and their three amazing boys!
