Eli and Luoxi brought their adorable son Eric to my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon
about six weeks ago. In Western culture, it’s common to do newborn photography
between one and two weeks after baby is born, but in some Eastern cultures, the
one hundred day mark is very significant. Many families of Asian descent choose
to do baby photographs at a hundred days instead of or in addition to a newborn
session. I love learning about the different rituals and traditions of other
cultures, and I think a hundred day celebration is such a wonderful, joyful
thing to participate in. I was happy to do this baby photography session for little Eric!
This little guy was incredibly sweet, totally adorable, and
so strong! He held his head up for pretty much the entire session, which is
pretty rare for babies this age. Usually it’s another month or so before baby’s
neck muscles and head control are developed enough to allow them to hold their
head up consistently. Eric was very curious about the world and wanted to hold
his head up the whole time so he could check out my studio!
We did a bit of an air travel theme with Eric’s baby photography session, using my hot
air balloon and wooden airplane props. Looks like he is a born adventurer! We
also chose a very neutral color scheme—mostly beige, with a little bit of blue,
yellow, and green thrown in for fun here and there. The quiet color scheme made
it really easy to work some black and white photographs into our baby photo
collage.
Eric was such a happy baby! I loved his adorable chubby
cheeks and fuzz of dark hair. He smiled for me and gave me the cutest
expressions. As a baby photographer,
I think that is one thing that’s fun about photographing older babies as
opposed to newborns. By just a few months old, they are becoming so expressive,
curious, and interactive! I do have a special place in my heart for newborn
photography—but there is something super fun about baby photography. I haven’t done too many one hundred day sessions,
but in the ones I’ve done so far, the babies are always so happy and sweet. They
make the session super easy! If you’re interested in one hundred day sessions,
be sure to check out this post as well.
Eli and Luoxi are such nice people, and so in love with
their baby boy. It’s pretty obvious that he adores his mommy and daddy too! He
loved cuddles, being held, and smiling at his mom and dad. We got some great
pictures of Eric with his parents. What a sweet family! I’m delighted that they
chose me to be the Eugene, Oregon
photographer for this special milestone in Eric’s life, and in the life of
their family. It was a pleasure and an honor to do this one hundred day
milestone baby photography session. Warm congratulations to Eli and Luoxi, and
best wishes!
