I had this sweet little guy in the studio near the end of November
for his newborn photography session.
What a cutie! When I say Brady was a little guy I mean it—he decided to come
into the world a few weeks early, so he was definitely on the small side. Fortunately,
despite the change in schedule, he was a totally healthy baby boy and his parents
(Lindsay and Preston) and I were able to reschedule and get him into the studio
pretty quickly.
Brady did a great job for me. He was super sleepy, which was
no surprise. All babies sleep a lot during those first couple weeks of life,
but preemies tend to sleep even more than full-term newborns, so that part of a
shoot generally goes pretty smoothly. One challenge that does come up
frequently with premature infants is jaundice, but that wasn’t too much of an
issue with Brady. Even when babies are a bit jaundiced it’s something a skilled
newborn photographer can work around
with smart color choices and proper editing.
One thing I loved about Brady (besides the fact that he was
a total rockstar for me) was how flexible he was. I call babies like this “curly!”
They bend their little bodies and curl happily into a little ball with only the
slightest bit of encouragement from me. It makes for such cute poses and just
looks adorable.
Like the last baby boy newborn
photography session I posted, we chose blue and gray for our colors, but
you can see how selecting sky blue instead of navy totally changes the feel of
the photos. I thought the lighter grays and blues worked perfectly with Brady’s
blond hair.
We didn’t do any parent or family photos this time around
since it was a mini newborn photography
session (mini sessions focus exclusively on baby and don’t include family
images), but Lindsay and Preston enjoyed watching me and Brady do our thing! It
was great to spend time with them. They loved all of the images so much that
when it came time for our ordering session they couldn’t narrow it down to just
five (the number of photos I include in the price of a mini session). I have to
say, I had some trouble narrowing it down myself when I was deciding which
pictures to include in this blog post! Preston and Lindsay ended up purchasing
the entire gallery. As a Eugene, Oregon
photographer it is such a wonderful feeling when my clients love my work
that much.
Brady was such a good baby to work with. He was the best
combination of sleepy, curly, adorable, and all-around sweet! It was great to
spend an hour with both him and his parents in my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon. Mini sessions like this may
be short, but they are always sweet! Congratulations to Lindsay and Preston on this
new addition to the family! I hope I will see them in the studio again.
