Erica brought her beautiful new daughter Paisley to my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon last
month for newborn photos. I did Erica’s maternity session back in February, and
have been looking forward to meeting the little one for a few months now. Miss
Paisley was absolutely adorable with her chubby cheeks, pouty mouth, and super
soft skin, and she was so good for me!
Although my full newborn
photography sessions include family photos if desired, we decided to focus
our time exclusively on Paisley for this session. She was very focused on sleeping—which,
in fairness, is very serious business for newborns. I love the look of
concentration on her face in so many of our baby photos. Too cute!
Since I specialize in studio
newborn photography I am always on the lookout for new props, outfits,
backdrops, and accessories to add to my collection. I want all my clients to be
able to customize their session and make it unique, and I want them to be able
to find exactly what they’re looking for when they come to me. A couple of my
newer acquisitions are a wooden heart bowl just the right size for a newborn to
curl up in, and a tiny grey wooden bed. Paisley modeled both for me, and wow,
does she make them look good! Am I right?
Speaking of customizable newborn sessions, if you’re
wondering whether you can bring items from home to include in your photos the
answer is an emphatic yes! For this session, Erica brought in her wedding dress
and headpiece to tie into our pictures as well. It’s a beautiful and personal
touch, and what a wonderful way to preserve those special objects and memories.
You can glance through my newborn portfolio to get a feel for the variety of
props I offer, and to get ideas from what other parents have brought from home
to include in their little one’s pictures. Wedding dresses, uniforms, and
handmade blankets are very popular in professional
newborn photography. Heirloom toys, books, jewelry, etc. are also some fun
ideas that can make your baby’s pictures even more personal.
We used white, blush pink, and florals as the theme of Paisley’s
newborn photography session. The
colors were beautiful and helped to tie this session back to Erica’s maternity photos
earlier this year, which used the same colors (along with black for a dramatic
effect.) If you missed her combination studio maternity and milk bath session,
be sure to check it out here.
I loved meeting this precious baby girl, catching up with
Erica, and creating artwork that I hope they will both treasure for many years
to come. As a Eugene, Oregon photographer,
I have a unique opportunity to connect with so many families in the community,
and to help them preserve memories and forge connections across generations
through the medium of photography. I love my work and am committed to giving of
my best to my amazing clients! Congratulations and best wishes to this sweet
family!
