Sydney, Nate, and Addison brought new baby brother Cooper to
see me for a newborn photography
session last month. It was so good to see the whole family again, and I was
excited about this newest addition. I always love meeting these new little
ones! Cooper is such a cutie and was absolutely awesome for me.
I haven’t seen this family in my Eugene, Oregon photography studio since I did Addison’s photos when
she was a newborn herself. I think that was almost three years ago now. Crazy! It
was wonderful to see her again though—she’s gotten so grown up since I last saw
her and I think she looks a lot like her mama.
It was really fun to get some family pictures—I’m always happy to include parent and sibling shots in my full newborn photography sessions. Addison is still a little young to hold her baby brother without a grownup to help, so I just had her sit next to Cooper and show off the new baby that way, which worked perfectly. Composite shots are also an option for families with big brothers and sisters that are too young to safely hold baby. For composites I’ll have the older sibling pose by themselves, get another shot of the newborn against the same background, and then blend the two together digitally. Technology comes in so handy for a newborn photographer!
Sydney and Nate are huge baseball fans, so we included an
adorable little bat and ball that were just the right size for Cooper to hold.
We did a baseball setup for Addison’s newborn photos as well, so if you’re a sports
fan yourself be sure to check those out! It’s always fun to include props and
themes that showcase mom and dad’s hobbies, passions, or professions. This
little man will be running around swinging that bat and chasing after balls in
no time! Is it too early to predict a career in the major leagues just yet? He
just looks too good holding a bat to not end up playing baseball on some level,
don’t you think?
Cooper was a great sleeper, and such a chunky little guy! I
loved posing him because he was so cooperative and calm. He didn’t seem the
least bit bothered by anything I did. We tried several different poses with him
since he was so easygoing. Like most babies, he loved to be swaddled, so we
used a couple of swaddles for him, but he really was so chill with everything
we did that we got a great variety.
I’m really happy with the way this session turned out, and
so glad I got to reconnect and spend some time with this sweet family. Getting
to know people like this is one of my favorite parts of being a Eugene, Oregon photographer. We really
are blessed with so many fantastic families in this area! I hope you’ve enjoyed
the photos of this handsome little guy—I certainly enjoyed taking them!
