What a fun adventure to have Lennon in my studio again—this time
for his one-year cake smash photography session. This little guy is baby
number three in his family. I photographed him and his older siblings Harrison
and Holland as newborns, and I also photographed them at their one-year mark.
Photographing three babies in the same family was a milestone for me as a Eugene,
Oregon photographer, and I love seeing this family so regularly. All three
of the kiddos have their own unique personality and are so different from each
other, but all such cuties! They definitely keep me on my toes!
Before the cake smash we got a few milestone baby
photography shots. Lennon especially loved sitting in my little wagon and throwing
wooden blocks towards me. He thought it was hilarious, and gave me the biggest
smiles. Fortunately—although I’m sure he’ll have quite the arm someday—most of
the blocks didn’t get too far, so I didn’t have to do much dodging around. Hopefully
he’ll have outgrown the block-throwing stage the next time we see each other,
or my camera and I could be in imminent danger! Whatever it takes to get a
great picture though, right?
For the cake smash part of our session we used a blue, gray,
and white color theme with lots of stars and balloons. Lennon’s outfit was
super cute—I love baby boys in suspenders—and complete with party hat. He wasn’t
a huge fan of eating his cake, but if there was an award for the baby that did
the best job demolishing their birthday cake Lennon would definitely win it! I
have done a ton of cake smashes over my years as a baby photographer,
but Lennon’s enthusiasm really took the cake (if you’ll pardon the pun. I
couldn’t resist.) I have never seen a cake quite so thoroughly destroyed. It
was completely unrecognizable when he got through with it. Lennon grabbed it
with both fists, kicked it, stomped on it, smeared it all over his legs—and had
an absolutely fantastic time!
It was super entertaining to have this little man in my Eugene,
Oregon photography studio again and to photograph him for his first
birthday. He is so much fun and there is never a dull moment with him! A very
happy birthday to Mr. Lennon, and I hope I see him and his siblings in the
studio again soon!
