Eugene, Oregon twin newborn photographer: Welcome Elijah and Cassidy!

It was so wonderful to see this family again! I haven’t seen Katharina and Jacob for almost two years, since a Christmas mini session back when their daughter Karoline was just a baby. She’s grown up so much and is a big sister now—to twins!

Cassidy and Elijah were absolutely adorable! They were born about six weeks early (arriving ahead of schedule is pretty common with twins) and had to spend some time in the NICU, but the hospital staff took amazing care of them and they are both doing great. They did so well in fact, that we were still able to get them in to my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon when they were right around the two-week mark.

Twins can be a unique challenge for a newborn photographer to work with, but the reward of beautiful pictures for a family to cherish forever is well worth it. I usually have an assistant help me out with twins, since it’s just not easy for one person to keep two infants happy at the same time! In this case however, both of these sweethearts did a wonderful job for me. They were nice and sleepy, and loved to be swaddled.

Since this twin newborn photography session was for both a baby boy and a baby girl, we used a neutral color scheme for most of our shots. Cream, white, and soft gray, plus some black and white shots, gave our photos a clean, almost minimalist look. We did want to incorporate some color too though, so we used navy and maroon for a few of our pictures—navy for Elijah, maroon for Cassidy. We also used headbands for Cassidy so it’s easy to tell her and her twin brother apart in these baby images.

It’s fun to get pictures of all the siblings together when a new baby (or two) arrives. Karoline did an awesome job posing for me with the twins. Love that toothy smile! We also got some family pictures and shots of mom and dad individually as they held their precious new little ones. All of my full newborn photography sessions include parent and sibling images if desired. I think it’s a wonderful way to capture your whole family at this exciting stage of life.
