Parents Chelsea and Daniel and big brother Ryder brought adorable
Orian to my Eugene, Oregon photography studio last month for his photo
debut. What a cutie! I fell in love with him immediately and loved taking
pictures of him in all his precious brand newness! I hope you enjoy the photos!
Everything about Orian was perfect, but I loved loved loved
his hair! So thick and soft—and so much of it! I just wanted to keep touching
it. (Can you blame me?) Even though I have a ton of adorable hats and so many
of them would have gone perfectly with the colors mom chose for this newborn
photography session, I was very reluctant to cover up Orian’s hair. At mom’s
request we did end up using a few hats (including my Dumbo-eared elephant cap—always
a winner), but mostly we kept his head uncovered so we could show off those luxuriant
locks!
Big brother Ryder did an awesome job with the new little
one. A lot of times during a newborn photography session I’m working
with two- and three-year-old siblings who are still just babies themselves. I
love working with this age group too, but there’s no denying that it can be tricky
to get the shots we want. Sometimes I have to create composite images to make
sure I keep everybody safe and happy. Ryder was five years old though, so a bit
more mature. He was great at following directions and holding baby Orian, and
he’s such a cutie himself. Mom and Dad are lucky to have such a responsible
helper!
We got several family photos during our session. This is an
option that a lot of families take advantage of during a full session, and I
always encourage it. As a newborn photographer, I enjoy recording not
only the first stage of a baby’s life, but also the love that surrounds them as
they’re cradled in the arms of parents and siblings. Of course, every session
is unique, and some parents prefer me to focus entirely on the little one when
I do photographs, which is absolutely wonderful as well! I want your baby’s session
to be exactly what you’ve envisioned and to be completely tailored to you. Just

This was such a sweet and beautiful family! I’m so glad they
