Hope everyone is continuing to stay well and healthy! After
such a rainy weekend, I’m glad to see the sunshine this week and feel like
summer is on its way. This newborn photography session took place way
back in December (which feels like forever ago—back when the world still felt
normal). Enjoy! There’s nothing like a new baby to restore your hope in the
world and remind you that everything is going to be okay.
Mom Jayna brought her little cutie King in to see me a week
before Christmas. They were headed down to the Rose Bowl because King’s daddy
was an Oregon football coach at the time. (He is now with USC.) Not even a
month old and already going to football games! There are a few guys in my life
who would be pretty jealous of King!
Even though they were on their way to the big game, I’m so
glad my Eugene, Oregon photography studio was at the top of their destination
list too. King was the cutest little guy and I loved photographing him for
them.
In keeping with the football theme, Jayna brought along an
Oregon Ducks football helmet for me to pose her little guy in. Doesn’t he look
just too cute snoozing away in that helmet? Hard to believe he’ll ever get big
enough to wear something like that!
As a Eugene, Oregon newborn photographer, I also keep
some Oregon Ducks baby gear at the studio. Since Eugene is home to the
University of Oregon, my little green and yellow “jersey” for newborns is a
popular outfit choice—complete with a soft, baby-sized football.
King was super sleepy and so easy to photograph. He was also
super curly. I love that! Newborns are so incredibly flexible—it’s one of the
reasons I encourage parents to bring their little one in to the studio between
seven and fourteen days after birth. It’s the combination of sleepy and curly
that allows me to get a lot of these adorable newborn poses. (Of course, if
your baby is a bit older we can still do a newborn photography session—we
just might not be able to get all those poses that newborns do so well.)
For the majority of our pictures we did lots of gray and
blue—always great for a baby boy. King is such a handsome little guy and looked
great in everything! It was a pleasure to have him and his mom in the studio,
and I love the images we were able to capture.
