Denise and Troy brought adorable Sophia in for a newborn photoshoot at my Eugene, Oregon photography studio. What a cutie!
This was a mini session, which is slightly different than my full newborn photography sessions, and can be a great option depending on what you’re looking for. Mini sessions are shorter (only an hour instead of closer to three). And since they’re short, they’re very simple and streamlined. I usually do some beanbag poses and one setup with backdrop, and also focus exclusively on baby rather than getting parent and sibling photos too. The mini sessions also include five high-resolution digital images, so if you want more of an all-inclusive package deal, a mini can be a good option. Of course, you’re always welcome to purchase more images if you can’t narrow it down to just five! (Not uncommon, trust me. Even with the shorter session time and fewer setups/outfits, you’ll still end up with lots of beautiful pictures to choose from, as you can see from this selection of Sophia’s baby pics.)
Sophia was a total sweetheart for me. We tried out lots of fun hats, pretty headbands, and cute poses with her on one of my white beanbags, and did a beautiful setup with some deep greenery and purple flowers. And we were also able to include a personal touch. Grandma (Denise’s mom) had made a beautiful rainbow colored blanket for Sophia before she passed away, and Denise brought it to the studio so we could have it in our pictures. I loved incorporating it in our session and being able to honor the memory of Sophia’s grandmother. It was really sweet to wrap her in the blanket that Denise’s mom had made for her—a reminder that the love of family is always there, even when we can’t be together.
As a newborn photographer, that’s one of the main reasons I do what I do. Family is everything, but the way it looks can change so much over the years. Pictures are a way for us to keep each other close and cherish the memories we’ve made!
I loved recording this precious beginning stage of Sophia’s life for her and her parents. I know she’s already grown and changed so much since I saw her in the studio, and it’s wonderful that mom and dad can hold on to that newborn stage through pictures even as they watch their baby girl grow and celebrate each new milestone with her!
