Please join me in wishing a very happy birthday to Beckett! He is the littlest guy in the middle, surrounded by his beautiful family.
Beckett turned one year old in February, so his family
brought him into my photography studio
in Eugene, Oregon for a celebratory cake smash! I can’t think of a more fun
way for a little guy to celebrate the advent of his arrival on the world stage
than with a towering mound of sugar and permission to do whatever he likes with
it. Needless to say, we had a great time.
Beckett is the youngest of six children in this wonderful
family—two girls and four boys—and it was great to spend time with all of them.
They are all such beautiful and handsome kids. Both Beckett and his brothers
and sisters were amazingly well behaved and an absolute pleasure to work with
during this baby and child photography
session. I was so impressed! Great job, mom and dad.
I think all of his siblings, but especially the younger
kiddos, were hoping that Beckett wouldn’t quite manage to eat all of his cake,
so they could help him out. But although he didn’t
eat it all, he definitely did quite a number on it! He managed to get it, quite
literally, all the way from his head to his toes. And aren’t they the cutest
little toes you ever saw? This is just a wild guess, but I’m thinking he
probably followed up his cake smash with a thorough soak in the tub.
He looks pretty proud of himself, don’t you think? Check out
that cheeky little sugar-frosted smile. With a face like that, you just can’t
get too upset at him for not leaving you any cake. Luckily for Becket, his
siblings agreed. It was obvious that all his big brothers and sisters were
totally in love with him and so excited to celebrate his first ever birthday. As
a result, they were very good sports about not being able to join in the
banquet.
Beckett’s nursery is decorated in a fox theme, so we decided
we would stick with that for his one year cake smash as well. It turned out
super cute. That little orange fox is almost as big as he is! I love the blue
and orange color combination. It’s so bright and cheerful, and absolutely
perfect for a little boy. The whites and grays tone it down just enough so it
maintains that energetic feel without being overwhelming, and the tree stumps
give it a foresty touch that is just right for a mischievous fox.
I had such a wonderful time with Beckett and his family, and
am so glad they chose me to be their photographer for this exciting event. It
was a joy to do a baby and child photography session with such a
fantastic group of kids, and the fact that they are all brothers and sisters
made it even better! I truly loved every minute I spent with them.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the pictures!
