I am so excited to introduce you to Bruxton! Some of you
might remember that I recently did a maternity
photography shoot at Fern Ridge Lake for Bruxton’s parents, Jen and Adam.
If you missed it, you can take a look here.
Bruxton decided he didn’t want to wait too long for his own newborn photography session and a
chance to be in the limelight, so he arrived about a month earlier than
expected—not that anyone’s complaining! We are all just super happy that he’s
here and we finally get to meet him. I’m pleased to report that he is a
healthy, happy, handsome baby boy—and very much loved by his parents. It’s a
feeling that I think everyone who meets him will share.
Bruxton’s nursery is decorated in elephants—which I love—so
we couldn’t pass up the chance to try him with a pair of Dumbo ears. So cute! Elephants
are very popular in baby themes—I don’t know if it’s the contrast in size, or
what, but it totally works—and it’s always fun to try to incorporate a baby’s
nursery theme into their newborn
photography session.
After playing around a bit with props, we discovered that Bruxton
looked so good in a flight helmet and goggles that we had to put him on a
little wooden plane there and then and let him pilot his way across a
cloud-scudded sky. Isn’t he the cutest pilot you ever saw? And so relaxed! Let’s
hope he’s on auto pilot, right?
We stayed with blue and sea-foam green for these newborn photography pictures,
complemented by some unobtrusive grays and browns. Sometimes simple color
schemes are the best, and I think the dramatic difference between the pastels
and the deeper earth tones worked really well together for this shoot. I
especially like the contrast in the picture below. The color of Bruxton’s
swaddling blanket stands out like a robin’s egg in a nest, and highlights this
handsome little guy’s face and wee small toes perfectly.
I was able to get some great photos of Bruxton with his
parents, an example of which is below. There’s something so sweet about a dad
with his newborn child, and I love this picture of Adam holding his brand new
son. Only time will tell, but it will be interesting to see if Bruxton is a
daddy’s boy as he grows up. This picture certainly makes it look like a
possibility!
Bruxton was a real sweetheart to work with, and let us get
him in and out of various outfits with hardly any fuss at all. It was so much
fun to meet him and welcome him and his mom and dad to my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon. I love being a newborn photographer for these precious
little ones and their families. New babies are such fun subjects to photograph,
and always so photogenic! I had a wonderful time taking these pictures of
Bruxton, and I hope you’ve enjoyed them too!
