This beautiful young lady is Paizleigh, and I’m so excited
for all of you to meet her!
Mama Dezirae and big brother Ryder brought this new little
one to my photography studio in Eugene,
Oregon early last month for a newborn
photography session, and it was so much fun to work with them! They are
great people and so happy to have Paizleigh join their family.
Paizleigh is so pretty, just like her mama. She has very
distinctive features—more defined than newborn features generally are, even
with those wonderful chubby cheeks—and I have a feeling she is going to be a
real beauty when she grows up. She also has lovely golden skin and soft dark
hair that I just love!
We used quite a wide array of colors for Paizleigh’s
session. You’ll see pink, peach, yellow, green, blue, cream, and brown
throughout the pictures in this blog post. Normally such disparate colors would
make it tricky to pull these photos together, but most of the shades are light
enough that they can blend together, and those that aren’t add a nice splash of
color.
I think Paizleigh looks especially amazing in this lustrous
peach, don’t you? It highlights those adorable lips and brings out the peach
tones in her face and even the tips of her tiny fingers.
I decided to bring several of the photos with more similar color
schemes together to make a collage, and I also love how those softer colors
showcase Paizleigh’s dark hair and beautiful skin. She is such a cutie pie,
very petite—and so sleepy!
Paizleigh’s big brother, Ryder, was so sweet with his baby
sister. I love this black and white photo of the two of them together. It’s
clear that he absolutely loves both the fun and the responsibility of having a
younger sibling, and it looks like he’s going to help mom take great care of
her. Paizleigh is lucky to have such a caring big brother to look out for her!
The only prop we used during this session was the carousel
horse, which Dezirae really wanted to include. I wasn’t sure how it would go
since this was my first time using the carousel horse for newborn photography, but it turned out really cute. I’ll have to
remember that for future sessions. Don’t worry; even though it looks like
Paizleigh is up there all by herself, mom’s hands were on baby the whole time
so she was perfectly safe and secure. No solo horseback riding for her just
yet. You’ve got to love those Photoshop tricks! While not it’s not a tool I
rely on heavily, it does have occasional uses, even for an experienced
photographer.
It was such a pleasure to have Paizleigh in my studio with
her mom and brother. I love all the different types of photography I’m involved
in, but I think being a newborn
photographer is my favorite, and when you take a look at these pictures
there’s no explanation needed!
