This sweet little lady is Agnes, and I have been looking forward to introducing her to all of you for several weeks now. In mid-August, when I posted her mom’s
maternity session, I promised you pictures of this darling, so here they are! I
hope you enjoy them.
Parents Alex and Tommy brought Agnes into my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon
last month along with Agnes’ big brother, Thomas. I have photographed Thomas
before—In fact, he was my grand prize winner in the Oregon Children’s Contest
last year, so it was a lot of fun to see him again. He is such a cute kiddo,
and has a wonderful smile.
Agnes is such a cutie too! She has lovely fair skin and a soft
fuzz of dark hair. It’s too early to tell yet, of course, but I’m really hoping
she’s inherited her mom’s amazing curly hair. Straight hair or curly though,
she’s going to be beautiful!
I was so glad to hear from Alex when she was expecting. As I
mentioned earlier, Alex and I held a milk bath maternity session together a few
weeks before Agnes was born, with lots of beautiful flowers in pastel shades.
It turned out beautifully, so be sure to check it out here if you missed
it.
Alex decided on coral, brown, and cream for the majority of
this newborn photography session,
and I especially love the coral as it harks back to the milk bath maternity
session when we were still getting ready to welcome Agnes into the world. All
of the colors work really nicely together though, as you can see from the
collage below, and have a very subdued and natural feel.
We used a couple of different props in Agnes’ newborn photography session, but my
favorite by far was the prop Alex brought in for us to use. This was a
collection of vintage kimono fabrics brought all the way from Japan by Alex’s
great-grandmother, and we posed Agnes lying on top of a brightly colored pile
of these beautiful materials. My clients are always welcome to personalize
their session by bringing objects that are special or meaningful to them in
some way, and I always love it when they do. It’s a fun challenge to work new
or unusual props into a photo shoot, and it always makes the resulting pictures
unique. I’m really glad Alex brought these fabrics in. They are a beautiful reflection
of little Agnes’ heritage, and a treasured physical connection to the past and
to all the people who have come before this beautiful little girl.
I’m delighted that I had the chance to be the newborn photographer for Agnes. She was
a sleepy little sweetheart throughout our session, and looks absolutely
cherubic in all her photos—like the angel she is. I had a great time seeing her
brother and parents again, and especially seeing how much Thomas has grown! I
am so happy for this family and know they will bring each other so much joy!
