I can’t wait for all of you to meet Braylon! Are you
wondering why? Just take a look at his photos and you’ll see that all
explanations are unnecessary.
Kara and Eddie brought their sweet little boy in
to my photography studio in Eugene,
Oregon near the end of October for his newborn
photography session and I had a blast taking pictures of him! He was such a
good baby, super photogenic—and that hair! Need I say more?
I’m going to say more anyway, because I just can’t stop
myself. I totally loved this little guy’s hair and I think it may be the best
newborn hair I’ve gotten so far! It was amazingly soft and fluffy—like baby duck
down. I always love it when brand new babies have a full head of dark hair, but
Braylon takes it to a whole ‘nother level. He does the afro look incredibly
well, don’t you think?
Blue and gray was the theme for Braylon’s session, a color
scheme that’s as laid back as Braylon himself, and allows him to completely
steal the show. We stayed pretty basic with props, although Braylon’s mom and dad
brought along a personalized swaddling blanket and stripy nightcap for me to
use, which was awesome! Such a cute idea to have baby’s name monogrammed on
some of his hats, bibs, or blankets. Plus there’s the practical element: There’s
no chance of mixing Braylon’s baby pictures up with those of any future
brothers and sisters. The label makes it clear that all this cuteness belongs
to Braylon alone.
Braylon was super sleepy during the first part of his newborn photography session, but then
woke up for a snack near the end. I guess with all that picture-taking he
worked up an appetite. We got him fed, and then I expected him to fall back to
sleep since that’s what newborns usually do when they’ve got a nice full tummy.
Braylon didn’t want to miss out anything though, and since he was calm and
happy I decided to just go with it and see what happened. He was very
easy-going and I got several adorable photos with him wide awake and checking
out the world. I’ll sometimes manage to get one or two shots when baby’s eyes
are open, but it’s rare to get such a high number of photos like that with very
young infants. It was definitely a treat for me to work with such an alert and
curious little one!
I had such a fun time being the newborn photographer for Braylon and his family. It was a lucky day
for me when I got to welcome that much cuteness to my studio! I must be living
right or something. This newborn
photography session was the perfect way to wrap up the month of October at
my studio, and I wish little Braylon and his family lots of love and laughter
as they celebrate the holidays together and prepare for an amazing new year.
