Gabi and Cody brought their two beautiful children in to my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon
last month for their newest little one’s newborn
photography session. Their new daughter, Emma, is a beautiful little girl,
and her big brother Henry is growing into such a handsome guy! It was wonderful
to have this family in my studio and I had a great time doing this session.
Emma was such a sweet and chunky baby. I love those chubby
cheeks and rolls of baby fat! Too cute. She was also very hungry! We had to
pause our session several times so she could take a snack break. Looking this
great for photographs is hard work, and Emma needed lots of nourishment to get
her through it! Despite the interruptions, we were still able to use the rest
of our time to advantage and get a full and beautiful photo gallery. That’s why,
as a newborn photographer, I always
schedule extra time for these types of sessions. Babies just don’t always
adhere to a schedule, so I’ve learned to plan for the unexpected and work
around whatever baby wants. Everyone ends up much happier that way!
Big brother Henry wasn’t terribly interested in sitting with
his baby sister for a photo. He’s an active little guy who would much rather be
playing than posing with a sleeping infant who just kicked him out of the only
child spot forever! Still, situations like this are exactly the reason I keep
an emergency supply of fruit snacks on hand in the studio at all times. I never
know when bribery will be required, and I like to be prepared. Fortunately,
Henry was open to negotiation, and with the help of some chewy, fruity
goodness, we ended up getting the shot. Phew! I’m glad we managed it because he
is such a cutie pie with those big round eyes and mischievous smile. I would
have been sad if I’d missed getting that on camera.
We went mostly with corals and creams for Emma’s newborn photography session—a great
color scheme that manages to be both very feminine and neutral enough not to
offend dad and big brother’s manliness when they get to be in the pictures too!
We did use a dash of purple, just for fun, which I included as a bright spot in
our photo collage.
When she wasn’t eating, Emma was a great little sleeper. Her
lips have this perfect little pout when she’s asleep that I couldn’t resist capturing
up close. Isn’t she adorable?
Emma was such a precious little bundle and it was so much
fun to meet her. She also has a wonderful mom, dad, and brother—all of whom are
just as photogenic as she is! It was great to work with them. I’ve been a Eugene, Oregon photographer for quite a
while now, and I love how friendly the people in this area are. Emma and her
family were no exception, and I hope I’ll get to see them again at some point!
