Oh, my goodness, this was such a fun session! Ashanti and
Sheree brought sweet Koda and Mateus in for a twin newborn photography session last month, and what a delight they
were! I can’t get over the cuteness of these two little boys, and I’m so
excited to share their pictures with you!
These little guys were so excited to meet their moms and the
rest of the family that they arrived about two months early, on June 11th.
They weighed in at right about three pounds, so they were teeny tiny. It’s
always a little scary when babies are born so early, but I’m happy to report that
they’ve been steadily putting on the ounces since they arrived and are both
doing really well. It was right around the time of their original due date when
I saw them in the studio, and although they were several weeks old when we did
our session you would never have known it to look at them. They were both still
very small and sleepy like newborns, and they did a wonderful job for me. What
a pair of cuties!
We just focused on the babies for this newborn photography session, but Koda and Mateus are not Ashanti
and Sheree’s only treasures—they have a very large family of eight children!
They told me they are planning to come back to the studio with everybody for
family photos at some point, and I can’t wait to meet all those kiddos! It will
be fun to have such a big group to do photos with. It’s great to see the
dynamics when you get a whole family together, and a family shoot is a whole different
experience from a newborn one, so I love having the variety. As a Eugene, Oregon photographer I feel like
I have a new adventure at work every day!
We used primarily light colors during this session: grays,
creams, browns, and whites that are so similar you almost can’t tell the
difference between them. The result was so quiet and soothing. We also added in
a couple of very dark blues for contrast, and used a couple of props for a splash
of fun color in a few of our photos. The boys were small enough that they could
both fit comfortably in my hot air balloon prop, and they are just adorable curled
up together on my little wooden moon with that starry background behind them.
It was such a great experience to meet little Koda and
Mateus. It’s always an extra special treat/challenge to photograph twins, but I’d
say it was mostly treat with these two. They really were so easy! I loved
having them in my photography studio in
Eugene, Oregon, and can’t wait to have them back with all their brothers
and sisters as well! I’m sure Sheree and Ashanti have plenty of willing helpers
to assist them with taking care of the new arrivals, and I’m so happy for them
and their family!
