It was wonderful to see this family again—this time for a maternity photography session. I have
done several photo shoots with them in the past for milestones, birthdays, and
Christmas and they are always so much fun to work with. It was great to spend
time with Amber, Grant, and Goldie as they get ready to welcome a new baby girl
to the family.
We did this session in October. A brave move, I know. Being
a Eugene, Oregon photographer, I always
get a little nervous about booking outdoor sessions this late in the season.
Even though we’ve had a dry year so far, you never know when the rains are
going to hit, and in this area it tends to be sooner rather than later! Outdoor
maternity sessions are so pretty though, and as it happened, we got incredibly
lucky with the weather. The sunshine was beautiful. There was a bit of a nip in
the air since we held this session in the evening, but the temperature was
actually much nicer than I had expected.
When Amber mentioned that she really wanted to include some
pretty fall leaves in her maternity
photos, I immediately thought of this park. I had photographed at this
location (in the Cuthbert area) one time last year and loved it, so I suggested
it for her pictures this time around. It was a great spot, with a rustic wooden
bridge, lots of trees (which of course meant lots of colorful leaves), and
winding paths.
Our pictures turned out so well. Amber wore a cute fall dress and
sweater from home for our more casual shots, and I also brought my blush pink maternity
gown for her to wear in some of our images. Goldie loved playing with the flowy
train on that particular dress! We got some super cute pictures of her playing
peek-a-boo from underneath it.
I always like to get some really fun, natural shots during
family sessions, and the outdoors is the perfect place to capture those. Kiddos
almost always love being outside, and there’s lots of space for them to run and
play. It makes it easy to get some cute, genuine poses without actually having
to work too hard on posing. Goldie has always been easy to work with, and she was
an adorable little ham this time as usual! She’s got the best curly hair and
the biggest smile, and she is always ready to show off for me and my camera. I’m
glad Amber decided to include the whole family in her maternity photography session.
Amber and Grant’s new baby was due early this month, so I
should be able to get her in to my photography
studio in Eugene, Oregon for newborn pictures very soon. I can’t wait! Be
sure to keep an eye out for them on the blog. If baby is anywhere near as
adorable as her big sister (and I have no doubt she will be), you won’t want to
miss those photos!
