This is my nephew Harrison! Is he not the cutest thing you’ve
ever seen? This is the first little boy in our family, so we all adore him and
he is getting spoiled for sure. I was so glad my sister Lea and her boyfriend Nick
were able to make it down to my photography
studio in Eugene, Oregon. It’s a four and a half hour drive from where they
live on the Washington coast, so no easy feat with a newborn, but they made it
happen. I loved the couple of days we were able to spend together, and had such
fun giving Harrison a bit more auntie love.
I did my sister’s maternity photos when she was pregnant
with this little guy, and also a Fresh 48 session in the hospital right after
he was born. Be sure to check out the photos if you missed them!
My two girls are absolutely smitten with their baby cousin,
as is my other sister’s daughter, Harbor. Since they’re all relatively close in
age this is really the first time they’ve had a baby in the family to shower
love and kisses on. Obviously we had to get a cousin picture with all four of them!
Harrison even woke up briefly to check out what was happening while his cousins
cuddled him. Aren’t they so cute together? The girls loved spending time with
him both in and out of the studio during his visit.
Harrison has the sweetest little round face and the best
hair! I love the way it fluffs up all over his head. And his serious expression
makes me smile. He was a great little trooper for me during his newborn photography session.
We decided on a very neutral color scheme for most of these
photos. Mostly gray, with a little bit of white and navy blue thrown in to add
some variety. It’s a very masculine color scheme, and went great with the black
and white photos I took as well. I’m really happy with the way our session
turned out. It was a special treat to use my skills as a newborn photographer for members of my own family.
My sisters are part Native American, so we tied that piece
of Harrison’s heritage into his newborn
photography session with some feathers and a dream catcher. Those were
really the only props we used, since we wanted to keep things simple and
somewhat minimalist. Props are fun and I keep plenty of them in the studio, but
my experience as a Eugene, Oregon
photographer has taught me that you can absolutely have a successful photo
shoot without them. After all, all we really care about is the baby!
None of us wanted to say goodbye when it was time for Lea,
Nick, and Harrison to head back home to Washington. We had such a fun visit and
I loved every minute of it. I can’t wait until our next family get-together
when I can hold him again!
