Kari and Chris brought new baby Conall in for his newborn photography session last month.
Conall was a name I hadn’t heard before—apparently it means “wolf.” Obviously,
with a name like that, we had to pull out my gray knitted cap with the pointy
ears! He was such a sweet baby for me. He was a big guy and had a hard time
fitting in some of the newborn outfits I keep at the studio! Fortunately for
me, he was also very patient with my attempts to find clothes that would fit.
Although we did manage to get some shots of Conall in actual
newborn outfits, we made a lot of use of hats and swaddles. These are great to
use for any baby, but especially those who are a bit smaller or bigger than
average. You can still get plenty of pure cuteness and fun variety this way. I
keep tons of different colored swaddles and all sorts of hats in my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon,
so there’s always plenty to choose from.
We also used several props to lend variety to our session.
Conall’s dad plays the guitar, so we got a great picture of the two of them
together, Conall resting peacefully on the guitar with his daddy’s arm around
him. Looks like dad is going to pass on his love of music to his son. A
wonderful gift! The alpaca coat (belonging to Chris) was also a nice touch.
Great-Grandma had made a quilt for the newest member of the
family, which Chris and Kari brought along to the studio so we could include it
in Conall’s newborn photography
session. What a beautiful quilt! I’m always amazed by the intricacy of the
patterns, and the fact that there are people out there who are both talented
and patient enough to create something like that. Such a special treasure for
Conall and his family.
We had several different colors, patterns, and textures
between the props I had at the studio and those that Kari and Chris brought.
The fact that most of the colors were earth-toned really helped to keep this
newborn session grounded and cohesive. It can be hard to tie so many different
elements together, but it worked really well this time.
Conall was such a handsome boy! I just had to get some
closeup shots of his sweet baby fingers and toes, and that adorable face. The
nose, the mouth, the chubby cheeks, the dimpled chin—I love it all! He was a
real little trooper for me, and a good sleeper.
It was great to be the Eugene,
Oregon photographer for this sweet baby boy and his parents. I loved the
opportunity to work with them, and was very pleased with how our pictures
turned out. Congratulations to Chris and Kari on their new little guy, and
thank you for letting me be a part of this special time in your family’s life.
Best wishes to you during this holiday season!
