Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone! I thought I’d finish 2018
off right with some photos of Leon. Do you remember this sweet baby boy from
his Fresh 48 session I posted a couple of weeks ago? I promised to post his
newborn photos soon, and here they are! Eleven days after I photographed him in
the hospital I got to have him in my studio for his newborn photographs. He did
an amazing job and was just perfect for me. It was great to see him again!
It sounds a little crazy, but even though it had only been a
week and a half since I last saw him, he had already changed so much by the
time Kelsey and Tyler brought him for his newborn
photography session. You wouldn’t think eleven days would be enough time to
do much growing and developing, but I could definitely see the difference.
Leon, like most babies, had very wrinkly skin when he was first born,
especially on his hands and feet, and that was pretty much gone by the time he
made it into the studio. He had also filled out a bit more and put on some
weight since his birth.
Despite those changes in his physical appearance, Leon was
just as sweet and sleepy in my photography
studio in Eugene, Oregon as he had been at the hospital. He had been
swaddled for most of the shots at the hospital, and although we decided to do
some swaddle pictures during his newborn
photography session as well, we also wanted to try some different things
with hats and outfits. During the Fresh 48 session, Leon liked to have his
hands up near his face, and Kelsey and Tyler mentioned that he had done that in
all his ultrasounds. I discovered that he still likes to tuck his hands up right
under his chin. Too cute!
We chose gray and navy blue as the main colors for Leon’s
newborn pictures. It’s a classic color combo that I really like, and it tends
to work well with black and white photos too. All the photos from Leon’s time
at the hospital were black and white, so we decided to do some black and white
photography during his newborn session to tie it in with the earlier pictures.
During my full newborn
photography sessions I always give parents the option to join in and have
some pictures taken of themselves with their little one. Parent and child
images are so special, so I’m always glad when they take me up on it like Tyler
and Kelsey did! We got some great photos of all three of them together, as well
as some one-on-one pictures with Leon being held and loved by his parents.
After meeting this sweet family at the hospital, it was
wonderful to welcome them to my studio and to do another session as their Eugene, Oregon photographer. I’m so
happy for Kelsey and Tyler, and I wish them and all of you a wonderful 2019!
