Oh my goodness, would you look at this cutie? I have loved
photographing this little man every few months over the past year. He is adorable
and always so smiley and happy. He brings the sunshine with him wherever he
goes! Mom (Brittanie), Dad (Colby), and Grandma brought Knox to my Eugene, Oregon photography studio last
month for his one-year cake smash
photography session, and we had so much fun!
To be totally honest, these are kind of bittersweet for me
with clients who have booked a full year of sessions to document their baby’s life.
That one-year mark often means I have to wait at least another year before I’ll
get to see my little friends again. But guess what? Brittanie and Colby are
expecting baby number two and we already have a maternity session scheduled for
June. We are also doing newborn photos when Knox’s little brother arrives, and
we’re doing the same one-year milestone plan we did with Knox, so I get to
consistently keep seeing this wonderful family. I’m so excited!
Before our cake smash we did some baby milestone photography for this little guy. He was just as
happy as he always is, and I loved seeing that great smile! We used blue as our
theme color, with neutrals like gray and white for the background, which is
similar to what we’ve done for his other photo sessions. All of our images
turned out great. I think my favorites are the cute family photos we were able
to get. Colby and Brittanie are awesome parents, and Knox loved being silly
with them while I took pictures. It was special to capture that relationship.
When it was time for the cake smash part of his baby photography session, Knox wasn’t
quite sure what to make of it. Not all kids are enthusiastic when it comes to destroying
a mound of sugar. So much sweetness can be overwhelming to little ones, which
is one reason I recommend that parents introduce their kiddo to cake a few times
before a session. There are no guarantees with babies, but familiarizing them
with this sweet treat makes it more likely that they’ll cooperate for a cake smash.
Knox definitely wasn’t in love with his cake (you can see that’s pretty much
the only photograph where he isn’t smiling), but he still made quite the mess.
He was actually more interested in the balloons we used for décor than anything
else!
I have loved being the Eugene,
Oregon photographer for this sweet family over the last year, and I’m so
happy that I get to continue in that role! Baby
and child photography is such fun. I love watching these families grow, seeing
my clients regularly, and spending time with cuties like Knox. I’m so excited
for Brittanie and Colby as they prepare to welcome another little one into
their lives. He is certainly a lucky boy to be part of such an amazing home, and
I’m already looking forward to meeting him!
