Megan, Michael, and big brother Boomer brought in new sister
Presley for a newborn photography
session last month. What a gorgeous little girl! With her golden skin tone,
soft hair, and perfectly pouting mouth she was an adorable baby to photograph. I
photographed Megan and Michael for a maternity session when they were expecting
Boomer, so it was wonderful to get together with them again and see how their
family has grown.
We wanted a bright, summery feel for Presley’s baby
pictures. I love the summer yellow and peach we used. So fun and cheerful! These
photos really are a splash of sunshine! Yellow isn’t a color that clients
choose frequently, but it works really well, as you can see. Megan and Michael
have always had an eye for the unusual in photography, and they must know what
they’re doing because it always works. I remember when I did their maternity shoot they wanted to do it outdoors in an area of wetlands that I had never
visited before. It turned out to be an amazing location and I was so glad they
suggested it. It looks like their creative eye extends to color as well!
Including other members of the family is always an option
with my full newborn photography
sessions, and mom, dad, and brother all participated in Presley’s session.
Boomer was a trooper for me, even though at his age it’s kind of a tall order
to sit still and pose for pictures. As a baby
and child photographer I have plenty of practice getting kiddos to
cooperate for photos, so we did just fine. He’s a great big brother. I also loved
getting some shots of the parents holding their sweet daughter.
We dressed cute Presley up in lots of different outfits, but
only used a few props: a teddy bear, some greenery, and a wooden heart. As a Eugene, Oregon photographer I like to
keep my studio very well stocked so that there are plenty of options for
everyone. I’m always collecting new props and outfits to fit various themes and
colors, so whether you’re looking for just a few pieces to match your theme or
want to have fun with lots of props and outfits during your session, I’m happy
to accommodate—just let me know!
I also enjoy playing with textures to lend depth and
interest to baby pictures. This is especially useful for black and white photography,
but it can also be used with colors. As an example, you can see all the textures
I used in the upper left-hand photo above. Even though we were working with
multiple colors, using multiple textures adds an extra layer of interest
without making it look too busy.
It was so fun to have Megan, Michael, Boomer, and Presley in
my Eugene, Oregon photographer studio!
They are a beautiful little family and I’m so excited about this latest
addition! Presley is an absolute sweetheart and I’m happy to see all of them
doing so well.
