Eugene, Oregon newborn photographer: Welcome Ava!

Cassi, Chuck, Anna, and Christian brought new baby Ava to the studio last month for a newborn photography session. I was so excited to meet her, and to have the whole family in my Eugene, Oregon photography studio. Cassi and Christian were the only ones who were able to make it to Cassi’s maternity session back in February, so it was wonderful to have the whole family together for pictures.

Chuck and Cassi decided not to find out this little one’s gender ahead of time: they wanted it to be a surprise—and it was! Cassi was convinced it was a boy, but while I was editing Cassi’s maternity photos I noticed a lot of differences in how she was carrying this baby as opposed to how she had carried Christian, and predicted a girl. Who knew that being a Eugene, Oregon photographer could make someone good at gender prediction? Luckily, it’s the type of situation where it really doesn’t matter if it’s a boy or a girl—mom and dad are going to be so happy with their sweet baby, and I am going to love having them in the studio! Personally, I wasn’t patient enough to wait myself to find out what gender my kiddos were. I’m too type A and a huge planner. I wanted to know which clothes to buy and how to decorate the nursery! But I think it’s fun when others wait until baby is born to find out the gender.

Ava was the absolute cutest thing—and she had the most adorable little scowl of concentration on her face, even when she was sleeping. I loved it! As a newborn photographer, I think everything about babies is cute—including baby grumpy faces! I also loved the colors mom chose. The peach and pink scheme is beautiful and the perfect choice for spring.

Older siblings Anna and Christian were awesome about posing with the new little one. It’s kind of fun to have a big brother or sister that’s quite a bit older than the new arrival, like Anna. Really opens up the possibilities for posing options during a newborn and family photo shoot. And, of course, I’m sure she’s going to be a great help to her parents!

We thought it would be fun to do a bit of a throwback to Cassi’s maternity session and the pictures I took while she was pregnant with Ava, so I brought out the same white throw rug and lacy maternity gown that we had used in February. We even did one of the same poses, with Cassi lying on her back on the rug and Ava on top of her belly this time, instead of inside it!

Loved doing this newborn photography session for baby Ava and her family! It’s been so fun getting to know them over the years and it’s a pleasure every time I get to have them in the studio. Our photos turned out great and we had a wonderful time!

Eugene, Oregon baby photographer: Hattie is ONE!

Hattie’s mom, Shanna, brought her in last month for a one year birthday cake smash photography session. Shanna (yes, her name is both spelled and pronounced the same as mine!) wanted to do a strawberry theme to go along with the banner and adorable outfit she had made for Hattie. What a talented lady! Looks like when it comes to the sewing machine she is a force to be reckoned with! Both the outfit and the banner were so cute and I was more than willing to figure out something a little different to match.

Eugene, Oregon maternity photographer: Milk bath with Kelsey

Kelsey came in for a milk bath maternity photography session last month. She was expecting a little boy in early November. Needless to say, he is here now! I did his Fresh 48 photos in the hospital shortly after he was born, and will be doing his newborn photos as well. He’s such a sweetheart! Be sure to keep an eye on the blog   for his pictures!

Eugene, Oregon baby photographer: 6-month milestone session with Lily

Oh my goodness, you are going to love the photos of this sweet baby girl! What an angel face! Audrey and Daniel brought Lily to my Eugene, Oregon photography studio at the end of March for her 6-month milestone photography session. Most of the 6-month-olds I photograph are little ones I took pictures of as newborns, but Lily and her parents were first-time clients. It was wonderful to meet them. And we had so much fun together! I usually set aside an hour for milestone sessions, but I very rarely use the whole time with 6-month-olds because they tend to get tired by about the 40 minute mark. Not Lily! She was sweet-faced and smiley the entire hour. I didn’t even want to stop at that point because we were having such a good time. And honestly, she was probably one of the most gorgeous, photogenic babies I’ve ever photographed. She seriously has the most perfect little face! She loved the camera, and the camera definitely loved her! Because Lily was so happy and cooperative, we go...
