Jackie, Timothy, and big sister Gemma brought in new twin
boys Jackson and Jude last month for a twin newborn photography session.
They were full-term little guys, which is somewhat unusual. Twins frequently
come early, and sometimes have to spend a little bit of time in the NICU to make
sure everything is good, but these boys arrived right on time and as healthy as
could be.
Since twins do have a tendency to arrive early, I encourage
parents expecting two little ones to book their newborn photo session even
earlier than most other folks. Remember, we can always adjust your session date
if babies decide not to arrive on schedule, but it’s difficult to accommodate
last-minute bookings. Although I’ll always try my best, I can’t guarantee a
spot without enough advance notice. If you’re expecting, get in touch
with me as soon as possible so we can work out a time to get pictures of your
precious little one—or two!
Jude and Jackson were super adorable! They both had the
softest little fuzz of blond hair. Since they were full-term, they were a
really good size for twins, and although there’s a bit of a size difference
between them it isn’t huge.
Baby photography involving twins is the perfect
opportunity for all sorts of extra cute poses. There is something about two
babies snuggling together or nestled side by side that just melts your heart! Since
I’m usually working with just one baby, I get excited when I have a double act
and get to use some of the twin photo ideas I’ve been collecting, or adjust a favorite
pose to accommodate two. We got lots of pictures of these sweet brothers
together, but we also made sure to get individual shots. For those images, we
posed Jackson on a gray background and Jude on a navy blue one. Made it easier
to keep it straight in my mind which kiddo was which!
Twin newborn photography takes some extra preparation
to get the studio ready for double the fun! I generally have a helper to lend
an extra pair of hands. These two were easy-peasy though. They slept really
well and didn’t give me any trouble at all. What a couple of champs!
Jackie and Timothy are big baseball fans, so we had to
incorporate that into our session. As a Eugene, Oregon photographer, I’m
always collecting both props and creative ideas for how to use them. In this
case, we used tiny, matching baseball caps for the boys, a bat and mitt, and—you
guessed it—two baseballs instead of one. Big sister Gemma also got in on the baseball
action, and I love the way our sibling shots turned out.
It was a pleasure to have these two handsome gents and their
family in my Eugene, Oregon photography studio. Big congratulations to
Jackie and Timothy—and big sister, Gemma, of course! This is a beautiful family
and they are going to have so much fun together!
