Brittanie, Colby, and Knox brought in new brother Ace for
his newborn photography session last month. I’ve been photographing for
this family ever since Brittanie was pregnant with Knox, doing maternity,
newborn, and milestone sessions. Their maternity sessions have been especially fun
since Colby and Brittanie love travel and the outdoors: We did a mountain
maternity shoot at Odell Lake for their first pregnancy, and when they were
expecting Ace we did a coastal shoot near the Heceta Head Lighthouse in
Florence. And of course it’s been so much fun to have Knox in my Eugene,
Oregon photography studio every few months. Now it’s Ace’s turn!
Ace was such a cutie! I thought he looked a lot like his big
brother did as a newborn, but of course every baby is different. You can check
out Knox’s newborn photos here if you want to do your own comparison. They
had the same chubby little face and chunky build though. I think the biggest
difference is that Ace didn’t have as much hair as Knox did! He was totally adorable
and slept wonderfully for me. I love how round his face is!
We wanted Ace’s newborn photography session to have
some similarities to Knox’s, but also to have its own unique feel. One way we
did that was to recreate the same parent/infant shots we had done in our
previous newborn session with the same poses, but against a different backdrop.
We also used similar colors in both sessions: lots of grays and creams, with a
splash of blue.
Knox was amazing with his new little brother! He is always
so smiley and happy whenever I see him, and he has the cutest grin. (And I am
totally loving the little man-bun he has going! Is that not the cutest thing
ever?) He was just as cheerful as ever this time around, and so good with Ace. It
was really adorable to watch them together.
Brittanie and Colby are planning to do milestone sessions
for Ace every three months or so, just like they did for Knox during his first
year of life. I’m super excited that I’ll get to continue seeing them regularly
in my photography studio! I love photographing these adorable babies as
newborns, and then getting to watch how much they grow and change. I’m so happy
for this awesome family, and feel very lucky to be their Eugene, Oregon photographer.
