Eugene, Oregon Baby and Child Photographer: One-Year Cake Smash with Logan!

Tawni brought in adorable Logan for a shark-themed cake smash at the end of last year. I haven’t seen them since I did Logan’snewborn pictures, so it was wonderful to have them in my Eugene, Oregon photography studio again. Logan’s gotten so big! He was a preemie, but did a great job putting on weight and getting big and strong right from the start. Loved seeing him a year out and getting to know his fun personality.

Logan’s nursery is decorated in a shark theme and Tawni wanted to stick with that for this cake smash photography session. I don’t have a ton of shark props and originally wondered if maybe mom could bring some things from Logan’s room for us to use. But a lot of the nursery décor is a bright green, and mom really wanted blues and grays for this session, just like his newborn pictures. What to do?

Enter crafty mom and dad! They painted the awesome sharks signs you see in the photos and then added hidden stands to the backs so that these signs (originally meant as wall signs) could free stand in the background of our studio setup. I love the way it turned out! Just goes to show that in most cases, all you need is some creativity (and maybe a little paint) to work around obstacles and come up with a great outcome. Way to go, mom and dad!

With a few balloons and a fantastic shark cake provided by Soft Peaks Cakery, our décor for this mini baby photography session was rounded out perfectly. Loved the shark fin topper! Logan was more into smashing his cake than eating it, but he had an absolute blast!

I love doing milestone or baby and child photography sessions with little ones that I photographed as newborns. It’s always great to see them again and to be able to photograph them at a more interactive age. Logan was a smiley, expressive little guy. I loved watching him have so much fun! That’s always one of my goals as a photographer: I want kiddos and their families to have fun and be comfortable in my studio. Photography sessions are about creating memories as well as capturing them, and it was wonderful to do both with Logan and Tawni. Happy birthday, little man!
