Expecting a boy? One of the many exciting things you’ll need
to consider is the perfect name. There’s a lot to think about when choosing a
baby name for your son. Do you want a family name or something completely new?
Something unusual or more traditional?
If you’re having trouble choosing, it can be helpful to
research baby naming trends so you have an idea of what types of names are on
the rise and which are on the downturn. I’ve done a little research to get you
started, so read on to see what boy baby names are predicted to be popular in
2020!
International – With an increasingly global society, names inspired
by travel are on the rise. Austin, Diego, Easton, and Miles are popular, and names
traditionally used in other countries are being used in the U.S. too. Luca,
Asher, Soren, Axel, Muhammad, Ezekiel, Leif, and others from around the world are
climbing the charts.
Movies and TV Shows – Popular culture has always been a big
influencer on baby names. Currently Star Wars and The Bachelor are leading the
curve. You can expect to see more names like Kylo, Cassian, Brooks, Hayes, and
Cruz in 2020.
Nicknames – Shortened versions of boys’ names are becoming
popular in their own right. Ricky, Leo, Randy, Mickey, Ted, Theo, Rudy, Jack,
Jace, and more are on the rise.
Traditional – Names for baby boys are generally more stable
than girl names, so if you lean towards a more traditional name for your son, you’ll
have plenty of company. Names like William, David, Noah, James, Elijah,
Matthew, David, and Joseph aren’t going anywhere.
Whatever name you choose for your son, it’s important that
it feels right to you, and that you believe it’s a name that will suit him from
babyhood all the way through his adult years. With hundreds of thousands of
names to choose from, it can be tough to narrow it down—but you’re also
guaranteed to hit on one you love!
