Eugene, Oregon newborn photographer: Welcome Sloane!

Is anybody else wondering where summer is? I was hoping for some amazing sunny days in June, but so far it’s been rainy and overcast here in Eugene. (According to my weather app the sunshine starts tomorrow—I hope it’s right!) We might have to wait for gorgeous weather, but at least you don’t have to wait for gorgeous baby pictures. I’m so excited to show off these beautiful images from Sloane’s newborn photography session back in January. She was such a pretty girl and I know you’ll fall in love with her just like I did.

Sloane’s mama Ashlee brought this little beauty to my Eugene, Oregon photography studio for newborn pictures shortly after Sloane was born. I always encourage people to bring their babies in early—within the first week or so after birth—for best results on their photos. Although it’s totally possible to photograph older babies, very young newborns are usually nice and sleepy, and still have that amazing flexibility that allows me to position them in those classic newborn poses.

Mom wanted the photos from this newborn photography session to focus exclusively on baby, so we didn’t do any family photos: it was all about Miss Sloane. Although family photos are an option during full newborn sessions, it’s totally up to you—some families like to get a few photos with everyone, while others just want lots of pictures of their newest family member.

We used mostly creams and whites to give us a clean, neutral background, and added some soft color with light purples and deep pinks. I especially loved the way the cream and pink brought out her beautiful skin tone, but she looked so pretty in all the colors.

I absolutely loved meeting this beautiful baby girl and her mom. It was a pleasure to photograph Sloane (who did an awesome job, by the way), and highlight all of her new baby adorableness. Being a newborn photographer never gets old!
