Eugene, Oregon newborn photographer: Welcome Kai!

This was the second newborn photography session I did after reopening my Eugene, Oregon photography studio in May. Kai was the cutest little thing! His parents, Pauline and Christopher, were super excited that I was able to get Kai in—and right at the two-week mark! Talk about things falling into place.

Although I’m always happy to do baby pictures for little ones that are older than two weeks, it can be more challenging (since baby is often more wakeful and fussy), require more editing (after a couple of weeks some babies develop little rashes and bumps on their skin—totally normal and harmless for newborns, but not always what you want in photos), and aren’t quite so flexible (some of those signature newborn poses have to go out the window). Fortunately we didn’t have to deal with any of those issues with Kai. He slept like a champ, had beautiful skin, and was still nice and curly! Proof (if you needed it) that even in crazy times like these, things sometimes manage to work out just perfectly.

I was only closed to clients for about six weeks, but what a long time it felt like! I missed seeing my sweet newborns and their families. It would be harder to say who was more excited to get Kai into the studio—me or his mom and dad!

I like my newborn photography sessions to be unique and reflect the values and culture of the family I’m photographing. Pauline and Christopher really value simplicity, and their gallery reflected that. I love the soft tones and empty space in these photos. Such a quiet, peaceful photo collection—just perfect for a sleeping baby.

It was wonderful to meet this sweet couple and their oh-so-handsome little man! Love love love the minimalist look we achieved and the perfect moments we were able to capture. I’m sure these baby photos will be a treasure to Pauline, Christopher, and Kai for many years to come.
