Andrea, Shannon, and big brother Jensen brought sweet little
Felicity in to the studio in March for a newborn
photography session. I’ve been photographing this family for quite a while
now, and have done Jensen’s newborn, six-month, and one-year photography
sessions, as well as Andrea’s maternity session back in February in expectation
of Felicity’s arrival. It was wonderful to see this family again and to get so
many great shots of this beautiful baby girl!
Felicity arrived about a month early and was teeny tiny as a
result. She is totally healthy and happy though, and such a darling! I loved
doing this session with her!
We used a few of the props that I keep in my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon,
but also incorporated several books that Andrea brought in. They were some of
her childhood favorites that were her mom and grandma’s favorites as well. What
a great tradition of literacy and storytelling! I thought it was great that
Andrea wanted to use those books that were so special to her, and that I’m sure
will be special to Felicity too as she grows up reading them with her mom.
There are some real classics in there, and all with such strong female roles.
Of course, with her name, we also had to add one of the Felicity books from the
American Girl series!
Growing their family hasn’t been easy for Andrea and
Shannon, and in fact, Felicity is a rainbow baby, born after the loss of an
earlier child. In tribute, I had Felicity wear a rainbow felt flower crown for
some of our shots.
She is obviously so precious to her parents, and I’m so
happy that their desires for another baby have been fulfilled, and that they
get to welcome Felicity into their hearts and lives! Jensen was also great with
his little sister during our newborn
photography session, as he knew he would be. He is such a cheerful kiddo:
fun-loving and never without a smile on his face. I’m sure Jensen will spend a
lot of time entertaining his new sibling, and that there will be lots of
contagious baby laughs in Andrea and Shannon’s home!
Felicity, true to her name, seems like a very happy baby
already. I guess she knows she’s in a good place, because she gave me some of
the cutest smiles in her sleep, and even though I’ve seen quite a few baby smiles
as a newborn photographer and should
be used to it by now, Felicity’s contentedness almost made my heart melt!
We used my carousel horse prop for a few of our photos, and
I love how it looks against the background Andrea chose.
I feel so blessed as a Eugene,
Oregon photographer to get to work with so many amazing families like this
one. I had a wonderful time with Andrea, Shannon, Jensen, and Felicity, and I
hope I’ll be able to work with them again many times in the future as Jensen
and Felicity grow up!
