Eugene, Oregon Newborn Photographer: Workshop with Son Kissed Photography

In January of this year (19 – 21) I had the amazing experience of hosting a workshop in my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon with Son Kissed Photography by Kristen Mackey. I mentored with Kristen two years ago, in October of 2015, and was so excited that she wanted to use my studio to teach others! We had a great turnout, with people attending from all over Oregon, California, Washington, and even Canada.

The above is one of my favorite pictures from the workshop. Dean was one of our newborn models who was kind enough to let us practice our photography skills while he slept. He is such a handsome little guy—and has the best hair!

We had six wonderful newborns who modeled for us over the course of the three-day workshop—and they really were wonderful! All the mentees were very impressed and commented on how beautiful Eugene babies are and how well they sleep! I totally agree! Our little models were absolute angels, and we were able to get some beautiful pictures with them. Take a look for yourself.

Scarlett was a great little sleeper, whether taking her ease in a cute wooden box or curled up on a soft pink bed.

Noah, a perfect fit with his biblical name, let us swaddle him snugly and lay him in a rustic basket reminiscent of a manger—and seemed quite content.

Doesn’t Alana look sweet in her little cap?

I love Theodore’s chubby baby cheeks. He looks very comfortable, sound asleep on a sea of mint green blankets.

Phoenix’s picture reminds me of a sunflower, with the rustic yellow and green color scheme. What a sweetheart!  We were thankful her mom and dad were Oregon Duck fans!

Aren’t they all the cutest babies you ever saw? They were so sweet and cooperative—and clearly incredibly photogenic! Everyone had a wonderful time working with them.

I loved the opportunity to open my studio to others who are interested in honing their newborn photography skills, and I learned a lot in the process. It was especially great to see Kristen again, as she is such a wonderful mentor and has had such an influence on my work. Check out her website, Son Kissed Photography

Kristen is an amazingly talented photographer. She is currently teaching online workshops that I have been participating in and they are truly fantastic. There is always more to learn! I find a lot of satisfaction in continuing to develop my talents and apply new methods and creative approaches. It keeps my skills up to date, my view fresh, and my job endlessly interesting. If you’re interested in learning more about photography yourself, you can check out her online workshops here

Newborn photography and baby and child photography are such exciting and rewarding areas to focus on. It was so much fun to get together with other photographers and share the learning experience. I don’t know if I will have the chance to host other workshops in the future, but I hope so. It was a wonderful and memorable opportunity that I will cherish!
